Perfect for making back-to-back batches more efficiently
I purchased this flex edge beater together with an additional mixing bowl because I operate a small home-based baking business and sometimes need to make more than one batch of buttercream back to back. I currently have only one mixer, and my order volume does not yet justify purchasing a second one. However, stopping to wash and thoroughly dry both the bowl and beater between batches was inconvenient and slowed down my workflow. Having a second bowl and beater allows me to remove the first set and move directly to the next batch. This has been a practical and much more affordable solution than purchasing another mixer at this stage of my business. The beater fits my 5-quart KitchenAid mixer properly and feels secure while the mixer is running. The flexible edge continuously scrapes the side of the bowl and pulls the butter and other ingredients back into the mixture. Compared with my regular flat beater, I do not have to stop the mixer as frequently to scrape the bowl manually. I still give the bowl a final scrape, especially around the upper portion above the mixture, but the flex edge reduces the amount of hands-on scraping considerably. I tested it while making buttercream, and it creamed the ingredients evenly and produced a smooth mixture. I would definitely recommend it to home bakers and small baking businesses, particularly when paired with a second bowl for preparing consecutive batches. It does not eliminate manual scraping entirely, but it saves time, reduces interruptions and has made my baking process noticeably more efficient.

Real Kitchen Aid Accessories are Easy to Find and a Good Buy!
The Kitchen Aid "flex edge flat beater" is an essential item in any kitchen that boasts having a Kitchen Aid standing mixer. If you cook a lot, your attachments are going to wear out much sooner than the powerful KA standing mixer itself. In fact, the standing mixers are made to last a lifetime, and, now that I think about it, mine is workhouse that has, so far, never failed after decades of use. The durable and well-made attachments, however, will ultimately wear down; and, it was a comfort to know that I was getting a real Kitchen Aid blade (this one is the one I use, btw, for cookie dough and things like that) and not a counterfeit version, when I needed a new KA flat beater. This leads to another point, and something to remember: always buy the same brand when you are looking for attachments to your electronic tools. It is no myth that a lesser piece will not perform the same way, and most likely it will be hard to use, and wear out even sooner, which makes your entire purchase a very poor investment. Put another way, if you are going to have the best mixer, make sure that you equip your device with the best parts made by the same maker. And this leads yet again to another point having to do with prolonging the life of your machinery and attachments: try not to put your pieces in the dishwasher, even if you are told they are dishwasher safe. Best to hand wash. Why? For one, the flex edge part of the flat beater is rubber--and dishwashers are brutally hot, which can erode the rubber not to mention the fact that dishwashing soap is very hard on everything. An aside, with some Kitchen Aid attachments, certain portions are made of an aluminum that can undergo aluminum oxidation after being exposed to harsh chemicals (i.e. heat, and dishwasher soap) or being left to soak for too long. With the latest and newer attachments, KA has been coating all of them and this problem has largely gone away, but aluminum oxidation is a "thing" that changes the texture of the metal and the metal will give off a black powdery residue (this metal part is usually at the "neck" of the attachment, or the part that snaps onto the turning fixture). It happens over time and the cause is usually manmade, so avoid exposing your attachments to harsh soaps and heat, and wash and dry them promptly. Lastly, I know that I could have ordered the flat beater from the maker or from a smaller kitchen parts shop, but, truth be told, Amazon offers the best price for this piece, and, as we know, if something goes wrong, Amazon is responsive and makes returns and exchanges quite easy.

Works great! This is the beater that should be included with the mixer.
After reading the reviews from those who received a beater in a plastic bag rather than the retail packaging when ordering from a third party seller here, I opted to order from another merchant (not Seneca River Trading) with fulfillment by Amazon since I am an Amazon Prime member and the beater wasn't available for direct purchase from Amazon. I thought that maybe, since Amazon is actually storing and shipping the product and nothing stated otherwise, that I would receive something in its original retail packaging as if I'd purchased it directly from Amazon... Mine also came in a Whirlpool FSP plastic bag, but Whirlpool does own KitchenAid. (I did check the extra info for the item from the other merchants offering the beater, and as of writing this, only one stated that the beater would be packaged in plastic bag rather than retail packaging.) I ended up going to a brick & mortar store to buy the beater at its $29.99 retail price in order to compare the two. There are other listings on Amazon for the very same beater where it is clear you're getting the manufacturer's replacement part rather than something in retail packaging. These listings do use Whirlpool's replacement part number rather than the KitchenAid retail model number. I just wish other merchants would be more forthcoming with this information. If it's not in retail packaging, just say so. Regardless, for saving about 40% off the retail price, I don't miss the extra packaging. That said, the beaters look and feel practically identical. (For those that are still suspicious, there are similar part and packaging numbers on the plastic bag packaging as well as the plastic shell holding the beater in the retail packaging and the retail box itself.) I have already used the beater I purchased here, and it seems just fine. In fact, it's great. The beater works just as it should. Every ingredient I had in the bowl incorporated easily, and I didn't have to scrape down the sides or bottom at all.

Perfect beater head for batter, wiper side keeps all ingredients in play.
This is the wiper mixer attachment you never knew you needed, and it fits 4.5-quart KitchenAid tilt-head mixers perfectly. The core is white powder-coated aluminum with a silicone flex edge, and the overall build quality feels solid and well-made. Unlike the standard flat beater, the silicone wiper continuously scrapes the bowl as it mixes, keeping all ingredients moving and fully incorporated, rather than letting material ride up the sides. It’s excellent for batters, cookie doughs, frostings, and creaming butter and sugar. I also use it to mix dry ingredients first, evenly distributing flour, salt, seeds, and leavening before adding liquids for more consistent results. It is simple to use. Simple design, excellent execution, and a real upgrade over the stock beater.

Works as advertised
On the plus side, the KFE5T fits the 4.5 quart KitchenAid stand mixer very well. In practice, there is a slightly imperfect match between the flexible blade and the mixing bowl. The blade rubs against one area of the bowl, causing a squeak when there are no ingredients in the bowl. A little olive oil reduces the impact to a rub or thump. Note that this rub means that the beater is contacting the side of the bowl, thus scraping all the ingredients off--which is a good thing. The over-rub now also means that the beater will have a longer life than if it didn't overrub. There is room for substantial wear while the blade will continue to rub on the side. If I may be nit picky, the blade geometry is a tiny bit off at the lower edge, leaving a gap between bowl and blade of perhaps 1 millimeter. This fact should have absolutely no effect on performance. Overall, the KFE5T is well made. The box says it is made of "coated metal," and is dishwasher safe. It fits the 4.5 quart tilt-head KitchenAid mixers. I would recommend this product. It is useful for faster and more complete mixing because it scrapes the ingredients off the walls and mixes them into the rest of the batter.

Why didn’t I find this before?
I’m not sure why I didn’t find this earlier. I have a KitchenAid mixer and one of the negatives about it is stopping the mixer and scraping down the sides. I have now found the solution to that, and it is this flex Edge beater. Does it get every area of the side of your mixer, not really, but it does a pretty darn good job. I’m thankful that I found this beater, it has been very helpful with a variety of batters

Muy buen accesorio!! By MLG CAPT SHADOW

Reliable and sturdy
Compatible with a 5qt kitchenaid this edge beater is amazing. The added module helps scraping off the ingredients from the sides of the kitchenaid. I bought this right before Christmas and made dozens of cookies with the help of this tool. Super easy to clean too, im amazed by the quality of it.
