Check the fibers
I tried dying a rug. I guess it was one of those fibers that couldn’t be dyed, because it didn’t take .

Horrible service, defective product
This product ruined my washer and dyed it pink and the articles of clothing I intended to dye. They came out splotchy with dark color splotches. I understand that sometimes there is defective products but you would think the company would take responsibility. But no, they blamed me for using the product wrong and since I got the product they did nothing wrong. They refused to help me and said if I wanted a refund then I can return the product but how am I gonna return the product when the product ruined my clothing, $100 worth of clothing ruined and it’s “my fault”. This has been the most frustrating process and it’s not okay.

So easy to use. Works like magic! Doesn't paint your washing machine!

This Dylon washing machine Dye seemed like a reasonably cheap way to get the colour of blouse i wanted without having to shell out extra money for another blouse, but I'm sorry I didn't now as I was left disappointed with the result. Issue 1 - Dying the blouse I wanted to dye 1, 100% white cotton blouse (550gr) Red so I used the Dylon Tulip Red (machine wash) Dye, which on the packaging stated that this dye would give a 'Tulip Red' result, a pinky/red finish on white fabric as long as the cotton was under 600gr in weight. I followed the instructions precisely but when the machine had done its magic, the top that came out of the washing machine was more an Orangey/Red colour and even worse, (even though the blouse was 100% cotton & not Dylon's fault) the thread that the manufacturer used to sew the blouse must've been synthetic, as it remained stark white! Result: A brand new blouse totally ruined in a colour that was not what was promised. Issue 2 - Cleaning the Washing Machine The next issue came when I tried to clean the washing machine. I ran 2 x full washing cycles at the required 40°C thru the machine, then wiped out the drum and also scrubbed the rubber seal as that had also been stained orangey/red. I then put thru a darks wash thru the machine and then followed that with a load of white washing with the added insurance of adding 3 x Colour Catcher Sheets, just in case there was some rogue red dye still lurking in the drum somewhere. When I removed the whites after the cycle finished, every single item had a small patch of red dye on it, even my daughters brand new white tshirts she had bought to pack & wear on her holiday a few days later. She wasn't very impressed and to be honest neither was I. Thats the first & last time I will ever try to dye anything in my washing machine as I didnt get the colour it stated and also with the amount of cleaning the washing machine required afterwards, it wasn't worth it. I think next time i want a different coloured blouse, i will just suffer the cost of just buying a new blouse in the colour i want (without all the extra cleaning), which I have had to do anyway. 🙁 P.S. The true colour of the finished blouse is more like the colour in the photo showing the button hole. camera

I had 5 red superhero tee-shirts (it's kind of a work thing) and they had started to fade to dull red/pink. I also had a red pair of cropped trousers and my teen son's red hoodie. I put in one pod of the Tulip Red (they didn't have a brighter one, but on top of the existing red it turned out bright enough). It has definitely intensified all the reds and made them look almost new again. They didn't dye the superhero logos printed on the front (although Wonder Woman is looking a bit more orangey), nor the blue piping on that teeshirt which I was surprised but delighted with. Loses a star for how long it takes and how many washes needed (FOUR!) which is not too eco friendly. So for the first wash I washed the to-be-dyed items with others in a normal full load (no conditioner) Then the dye load Then the 'wash it all out' load Then I ignored the 'run an empty load' instruction and just put a load of dark grey towels in for a boil wash instead to at least make something of that load. One of the T-shirts (thankfully only The Incredibles) ended up with some weird stainage of the dye near the armpit/side-boob area, I'm hoping that won't be seen on, most of the time.
