I never knew this type of visor/hat existed, but once I saw it, I knew I had to have it.I'm 27 and I take sun protection seriously. I use a variety of products which make my skin extra sensitive to the sun (like tretinoin). Additionally, I am very pale and want to avoid sun damage. The fact that this hat rolls up is invaluable to me. I like to walk to the stores and wanted protection while I am out on sunny days. I was hesitant to buy a sun hat because I couldn't imagine lugging it around in the store with me. This visor/hat is the perfect solution. I can stuff it into my purse or keep it in my car for impromptu picnics or walks in the park.THIS HAT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR SUNSCREEN. Yes, it is rated UPF 50+ (it came with a tag that said so), but UV rays can reflect off of surfaces and hit your face. It creates a bit of shade and helps you avoid direct sun. It's not too big or too small; it creates just the right amount of shade.The tag states it is 75% paper and 25% polyester. I compared it to other brands of visor hats in stores and I think this is well worth paying a few dollars extra for. It is a pliable material that holds its shape. Other, cheaper hats seemed floppier and less nice looking.This hat looks pretty good; I don't feel embarrassed to wear it, anyway. From the front, it looks more like a hat, but from the back and sides it has more of a visor look to it. Honestly, if you want to look cute, you might want to buy a full hat. But because this is packable, I still think it's a great investment. The velcro strap lets you wear it as tightly as you want it, for any sized head.

I really love this hat. I bought it in anticipation of a trip to Europe during the hot summer months and it did exactly what I needed it to do: protect my face and eyes from the hot sun. I love that this hat rolls up and stores easily in a small pocket of my luggage when not in use. It fits perfectly, though depending on your hairstyle can sometimes be difficult to get the velcro pieces to connect just right. Others have mentioned that the elastic loop used to store the rolled up hat can get in the way of the velcro and this is accurate: it could be a bit annoying at times. Having said that, it was a minor inconvenience and nothing that really affected me. I would definitely recommend it!

Have not figured out the velco piece to secure it. Works differently than the last one. Thin elastic piece to roll it up hangs loose and shows.

and this is, hands down, my favorite hat. Just to give you an idea the variety in my closet, I have sunhats ranging from 6 inch stiff brims with straps under the chin, an Asian rice paddy hat (think shallow, conical number made of something resembling dried corn stalks), various golf hats (I do not play golf ), Little Bo Peep-style hats with ribbons, a collapsible fabric hat that was my go-to garden hat, cowboy hats, Indiana Jones hats... but this little cap is by far my favorite. I can roll it up and stuff it in my back pocket/purse/pool bag when I'm not using it, and it looks good with everything from my gardening clothes to my cute little swimsuit cover-up and giant Jackie-O sunglasses.I've received numerous compliments on this hat but to be perfectly honest, I would wear it even if people told me it looked ridiculous because it's VERY comfortable and fits well enough on my head that it doesn't fly off in the breeze when I'm on my lawn tractor. I am definitely going to buy more of these, probably in black and maybe an exact replacement for the one I already own. LOVE this hat!****UPDATE 4/7/2014****I've been using this hat since last year and continue to receive compliments on it. I like it so much that I've purchased two more (in different colors) and my mom found one in a similar style that she sent to me to wear. If you have "poofy" hair that needs to maintain its shape, you will obviously want to look for something more along the lines of a visor. For my needs, this hat is perfect--I wear it over blown-out (straightened) hair, low ponytail, very high ponytail, natural waves, and my hair always looks great when I remove the hat.

I love this visor hat thing! I bought this on impulse this summer after realizing that I needed some face protection from the sun while at the pool with my toddler. I wear this right into the water with my kiddo and it's held up so far despite the chlorine!My favorite part about it is that it protects my hair from the water a little bit. My hair is long and curly and somewhat high-maintenance. I have been trying to find a way to keep it dry so that I don't have to do a full wash routine after every trip to the pool, while I still want to get in the water and play with my kid. I've given up on swim caps. But I was pleasantly surprised by this! I put my hair into a topknot and this hat over the top, and the brim provides some splash protection! As long as I don't go under or really jump around, my hair can still be mostly dry afterwards. I like having that flexibility.I have a giant lady head and this is big enough for me. It wraps around with velcro tabs at the back, and there's still enough space that a larger head than mine could wear it. And it rolls up with a little elastic loop to fit around it, which is perfect for the pool bag.All in all, I love this hat and I'm glad I got it!
