Beautiful model!
Trumpeter makes some VERY good models, especially for this scale. And this one is no exception. They even have foam wrap inside to keep the parts in good condition during shipping. This is NOT a model for beginners though. Almost all the pieces are tiny, as well as coming with photo etched parts which add a high level of detail, but also a higher level of difficulty. 10/10 would buy again... In fact, probably will if I can't find a 1941 Maryland.

well worth it!
the total picture.! the many, many parts included can also lead you to improve or to build additional models. by building the model in units, the painting process can be more effective.

Too Frustrating to Recommend
This model was the most frustrating model I have ever attempted to build and I would NOT recommend this brand at all. Unfortunately options are limited for some ships. Many of the parts are much too small to handle, and other constructions are nearly impossible to build - they need to take lessons from other model companies who provide tabs and grooves to help position difficult pieces. they expect you to have six hands able to build and hold together a freeform box of about a half square centimeter. Several pieces are supposed to be constructed of heavy foil, which is impossible to make in the manner they suggest. Many parts are duplicates or near duplicates and not used since a lot of the same frames are used for other ships. There is no rhyme nor reason to the sequence they offer in the instructions, and the text describing the ship and her accomplishments is comical - English is an obvious (and not well understood) second language to the copy writers.

Beautiful kit and you must get the Smith book!
Be sure to get the Myron Smith book to go with it...far better than Squadron/Signal and less expensive

but the actual ship itself was terrible. It was cheap
The shipping was okay, but the actual ship itself was terrible. It was cheap, and extremely difficult to assemble.

Ok
It has missing parts so he couldn’t finish the ship which was said his father served on USS WEST Virginia during ww2.
