Great Dryer
I've used $20 dryers my whole life and a few years ago I tried a friend's high quality dryer and couldn't believe how quickly it dried my hair. So, I recently got sick of the one heat setting my cheap-o dryer had (the so-hot-I-need-another-shower-after-drying-my-hair setting) and decided to invest in a quality dryer. I wanted a dryer with multiple heat settings and a powerful airflow. I have really long hair and also happen to be hot natured, so I'd rather use a strong airflow and minimal heat to dry my hair as quickly as possible.I went to Ulta and tested out several dryers and narrowed it down to this dryer and a Hot Tools dryer. They each had their pros and cons: this dryer definitely had a stronger airflow but the Hot Tools dryer was lighter. After reading some reviews, I went with the Rusk Speed Freak and I've been very happy with my purchase. It dries my hair as quickly as my old one did, but without making me feel like I'm sitting on the surface of the sun (on the medium setting, that is--on the hot setting it dries my hair in no time, but I'm usually sweating afterwards). Plus, now my hair is more silky and doesn't feel dried out like it did with the other dryer--which probably has to do with the difference in the amount of heat I'm using. It also seems to keep my hair from frizzing as much as it used to. My hair is very straight, but I live in Alabama and the humidity here can make it really frizzy. I haven't had the dryer during the summer months to see whether or not it locks out that kind of humidity, but I've been able to tell a difference in the frizziness since I've switched dryers. However, there are some things to note about the dryer that some may consider cons. First, I agree with a lot of the prior reviews I've read: the dryer is a bit on the heavy side. However, I was used to using a small travel-sized dryer and by now I've adjusted to the weight of the new dryer, so it doesn't feel that heavy anymore. Second, I have to be careful when I'm drying my hair not to let the dryer tangle it. Again, I have really long hair (like waist-length) and the airflow on the high setting is so powerful that if I'm not careful to keep the dryer angled the right way it will swirl my hair into knots (kind of like the wind can do to long hair on windy day). I learned that lesson the first time I used it and have since been more careful and generally don't have too many problems with it knotting my hair. Third, the adjustment buttons are located right where most people would put their hand to hold the dryer, so sometimes I accidentally change the the power or heat setting when I shift the dryer in my hand. It doesn't happen too often, so it doesn't bother me, but it could be aggitating to others.All-in-all, I am very happy with this dryer and would recommend it to just about anyone who has "normal" upper body strength. I could see where it would be difficult for someone with weak arms/shoulders to use this dryer, but if you're unsure whether or not it would be too heavy, I recommend visiting your local Ulta store and trying it out. Like I mentioned before, that's what I did and I knew it was a little on the heavy side when I bought it, but that it wasn't so heavy that I couldn't hold it for 10 minutes to dry my hair.

What’s with the complaints?
Update 04/03/2025My hair dryer is still performing perfectly! Nothing has changed about it. Fully functioning and dries my hair fabulously! Get yourself one of these! You’ll only be disappointed if you don’t. The Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda is no way to live out your life! 🥰Update 12/21/2023:2 years now and it’s still a great hairdryer. No mechanical issues, all parts still in tact, dries hair super fast and I’ve gotten my $ worth out of it. By far the best hairdryer I have ever owned and I’ve owned many over the last 40+ years.Original Review:This is a great hair dryer… worth every penny! It can get very hot… if that’s not what you want or need, set the damn thing on one of the many settings and leave it there. The hair dryer offers multiple temp settings and speed settings to cater to many hair types.I am a woman over 50. I have hair below my shoulder blades that is naturally white with salon low lights. It’s of fine texture but at this moment I still have quite a bit of hair. It can get frizzy in humid weather and has a slight natural wave to it. I put this dryer on medium heat with high speed and it does great! Quick drying, no fried hair and Salon quality results for sure!Remember, no matter what your hair type is, you should be using a quality shampoo and conditioner. In addition, you should use a heat protectant spray on your hair before using any type of hair dryer or styling iron. If not, we don’t want to hear your whining or read your bad review because your hair is fried. You did it to yourself.Cons: I couldn’t find anyPros:- Lighter weight- Low Noise- Multiple speed and temp settings- Quick drying- Temp and Speed settings on handle do not move out of place when your using the hair dryer- Arrived on time and well packaged

Power, dry Faster n light weight
I always use professional hair dryers. My last Rusk speed freak start giving me some problems after like 8 years of continuous use but it wasn't the hair dryer's fault, was my house that had some electrical problems. I Love Rusk Speed Freak and they work fantastic, duration is awesome no matter the use. Dry faster than others, powerful hot air that helps a lot to dry my hair quicker in less time, leaving my hair completely straight, shinny, without that frizzy oncoming that scares all of us specially when we are in humid places or it's a rainy, snowing or a hot sweating day. If you use a good hair brush and do a good job drying and straightening your hair with this hair dryer believe me, your hair your can be straight for the whole week just to give an example. I have like 10 years using this brand Rusk speed freak and the w8less version and they leave my hair straight and with a shine that others can't... i have a T3 cura that is good and leave your hair with a good shine but.... it takes more time drying and the worst part it looks good for a time but the frizziness start to appear in less than an hour, maybe hood for people with thin straight hair just to dry thheir hair but for straight hair if you have curly, wavy or coarse hair that needs a jod job from the roots to the end, this expensive one doesn't. Sometimes i want to use something new or different Just to check if there's something better but i regret it and return to this ones. Wasting lots of money in another hair dryers. I have curly beachy mix waves that is not easy to manage and the worst part is that I'm on medication that leave my hair super dry with split ends all the time no matter how many times cut my hair or use biotin or others vitamins and the only hair dryers that help me a lot in hide the dryness and that split ends is the 2 Rusk mentioned before. Honestly, For me this one is one of the best ones... i have like 20 hair dryers different brands including the super expensive dyson one that work well but not like this one.
