My First Waxing Ever, I'm a Believer in this Product!
First of all, let me say that I'm disabled; my disability makes it a challenge to control my body. Secondly, I'm on blood thinners, so I bruise easy. Thirdly, this was my first ever waxing.I stopped shaving the end of last summer because it had become such a mess. No matter what I did, I didn't have enough control to keep from nicking myself all over the place and being on blood thinners, it looked like a brutal murder had taken place for hours afterwards. My biggest concerns about waxing were about being able to rip the strips off properly, the bruising and the pain. This morning I set everything up and prepared for a long agonizing process and found it not to be so at all! I'm thinking since I haven't shaved in a while (which in Arizona, the end of summer is like November when it finally cools off enough.) so perhaps the hair was finer than if I had been shaving. My first challenge was keeping the wax warm enough for me to be able to spread, which of course is a challenge for me anyways. Being disabled, constantly going to the micro wasn't really an option. I would have worn myself out too much to finish. Keep in mind it's 78 degrees in here and yet I couldn't keep the product warm enough to spread easily enough. I solved that by turning off the overhead fan and I put the product jar in a bowl with warm water. I put the strip on and clenched for anticipated agony. Rip. Huh, that was no big deal at all! Since this was my first time, I didn't want to invest too much in this option in case it didn't work out, but I plan on getting a warmer for next time, and there will definitely be a next time! The next issue to solve was a bit of a sticky mess. This is mostly due to my bodily issues; I found that my hands were getting a bit sticky when I was rubbing the strip before pulling, but also when my body was jerking around, I was getting the product all over my arms, hands and oxygen tubing. This was easily solved by having a damp wash cloth next to me. I don't imagine others will have to deal with this quite the same way I do, but you may find your hands get sticky and the damp wash cloth will be very handy. I probably used more wax then most people might, even still, if I used this same amount again, it looks like I would have at least four more leg waxings. I expect I will be using less next time, as I found that I didn't need to spread more product on each time, but just put the strip with some wax already on it onto the next section, rub it to warm the product, wait a moment for it to cool, and then rip again and repeat until it wasn't sticky enough. As I mentioned above, I was concerned about the pain and the bruising. The pain was quite tolerable for me, in the most sensitive areas it was perhaps a 3 or 4 in the pain scale where 10 is the worst. I mention again the blood thinners cause me to bruise when the wind blows, however I found that I had little bruising. I tried to position my leg to keep the skin as tight as I could and then didn't need to try to use my hand to keep it taught except for a couple of places, but I didn't make the skin taught there and thus received a bit of mottled bruising. This being my first time, I figured out not to do that again and therefore it wasn't an issue anymore. I put some Arnica Cream on and it's not that big of a deal actually. I guess there was one more concern, my red-headed daughter tried to get professionally waxed and ended up very red, irritated and bruised. I have very sensitive skin and found there is no irritation or redness whatsoever. I was also a bit concerned, this being my first time, and I've never even been professionally waxed, but I found the instructions to be very adequate and the process simple. My legs feel silky soft and pretty. Even though this was my first time and thus I would expect it to take longer to do the whole thing, it probably took less than an hour, but in my case, the need to move back and forth to get things (re-heat the product, get a damp wash cloth, etc) then having to rest in between is what took most of the time. Next time I will have a warmer and everything set up at the start and my guess is that it will take about 20 minutes, including having to clean up from body jerks into the product. This was wonderfully easy and I have great results! I chose this product because of the reviews stating that they had minimal redness, easy clean-up and good results. I'm not disappointed, in fact I am extremely pleased and would recommend this to anybody interested in being waxed.

Not even close to what I expected.
I was pretty excited to try this product. Like most people, I get sick of shaving pretty quickly and decided to use this as an alternative to straight up waxing, which I have had bad experiences with.To get this out of the way, regardless of the reviews I read, I was expecting it to be messy, to hurt, and to not do the entire job. However I expected a heck of a lot more than what I actually got.I followed the instructions to a T. First off, heating it only ten seconds did not do a thing to it, it was a terrible mess. When heated up for about 30 seconds it got to a workable consistency. I tried it on my face, stomach, and bikini area just like the directions said by applying a very thin layer, rubbing over the strip, then pulling. I found it worked a little bit better if I waited for about a minute before removing the strip. It got none of the fuzz on my face, which I wasn't too surprised about because they are pretty fine. Next I tried my bikini area. It hurt like hell. It pulled out maybe half of the hairs, some other hairs simply snapped, and it left a massive mess and I was even bleeding. Not to mention my skin got extremely red and the next day I had red spots everywhere the hair did come out and the area was painful to the touch. Finally I decided to give it another try on my stomach, an area with hairs easier to pick up than my face but less sensitive than my bikini area. The same thing happened. This time it got maybe 1/4 of the hair and left me messy and bleeding. I can only even tell that I used the stuff because where I used it is all red.I will admit that I have sensitive skin. It's too sensitive to use products like Nair. However this stuff was equally as bad. The pain and mess were certainly not worth the few hairs that it managed to pull out.

Much less painful than regular waxing!
For the last few years, I've been getting Brazilian bikini waxes at a local waxing salon, but, at the cost of $55 + tip, I've been looking for a cheaper alternative that didn't involve nasty chemicals or too much pain. Based on the reviews here, I decided to be brave and try the Moom kit, and am definitely a convert! In years past, I've tried various other home hair-removal methods: an epilator (too painful), a Gigi brand home waxing kit (also too painful and very messy), and Veet and Nair (but have disliked using chemical products in my nether regions). This Moom product is by far the best!First of all, it did not hurt as badly as regular waxing (and the woman I go to has been doing waxing for almost 20 years). Sure, there is some pain involved, but it wasn't that bad, and, when you wax on a regular basis, the pain lessens since the hair root weakens and the hairs pull out more easily. Second, it was very easy to use. I only had to heat it in my microwave the initial time for 10 seconds, and it stayed warm enough to use for the entire 30 minutes I needed to do my waxing. (I went slowly since this was my first time doing a full wax on myself, but I imagine that next time it should only take me about 15 minutes.) Third, it was very easy to clean up. After finishing up , I tossed the muslin strips in a sink full of warm water for about five minutes, and was happy to see that all of the Moom and hair rinsed right out. This kit comes with a small tub of the Moom product itself, 12 large muslin strips, 6 small muslin strips, 2 large popsicle sticks, and 2 small popsicle sticks. I used about 1/6 of the tub to wax my entire bikini area, and so this should last awhile. Once I finish the tub, I'll most likely purchase the Moom refills since the muslin strips and popsicle sticks are reusable. As several other reviewers have mentioned, also be sure to follow the directions carefully: using some baby powder, applying a very thin layer in the direction of hair growth, and pulling hair out in the *opposite* direction are key for a smooth waxing. This product also contains a small booklet that gives pictures and tips for waxing various body parts (face, bikini, legs, underarms, etc.) that was very useful. As another tip, it's also helpful to apply some hydrocortisone cream after waxing to help with redness and bumps.Overall, if this continues to work as well as it did this first time (and I don't see why it wouldn't), I'll never go back to salon waxing!
