Timely, timeless, and charming - a wonderful addition to our library
I gave this to my 5 year-old daughter for Christmas, and we read it tonight for the first time. This book is so precious, and touched my heart in the way that few children’s books ever have (I used to work at a children’s bookstore and as such we have far too many books in our library). It is wonderful, charming, and ever so timely as we see forest families fleeing danger at home to find a home they build together where everyone is welcome. A perfect, age-appropriate way to teach children about issues of the day, or just how we love thy neighbor. It belongs on the shelf right next to other terrific kindness books like A Sick Day for Amos McGee, the Invisible Boy, Chrysanthemum. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Message and Lovely Illustration
Absolutely love the very timely message of welcoming everyone to build a home together and all working together to see the project through. The illustrations and lyrical text are just beautiful and my daughter adores the book. A frequent read in our home and we've also gifted it several times. Highly recommend!

Wonderful book and touching message!
We got this at the local library and it is such a beautifully illustrated and touching story with a wonderful message! Now we must buy it and share with friends too. The rhymes and animal pictures keep smaller children entertained while the message of helping others and working together will resonate with older kids in grade school. Beautiful!

Lovely story and pictures
A beautifully illustrated story with a lovely message of inclusion. My kids adored this story of a group of animals banding together to build a house that will fit them all.

Great book for a 5 year old with an important message
Book came in like new, almost perfect condition. It’s been getting more difficult to find books appropriate for his age and reading level. Many are too young and others too long or topics he cannot relate to. This book has a very good message to tell.BTW, I love Patricia Hegerty. She is a gifted writer. I think we’ve read Five Black Cats over 100 times! He has outgrown it, and this new book is great for this next chapter of his reading. Pun intended! Also, this is a book I read to him, he is not advanced enough to read it on his own.
