17-year-old Asher has always been the impulsive troublemaker, from primary school all through junior high and high school. It's hard for him to concentrate in class, and he is compelled by a lot of rage and violence; yet he is also endowed with a considerable amount of charm and street wisdom. While his strict father sees him as a natural successor to the family's scaffolding business, Asher finds a different masculine role model in his gentle literature teacher Rami and forges a special connection with him. Torn between the two worlds, Asher looks for a chance for a new life and identity. When a sudden tragedy occurs, he has to take the ultimate test of maturity. In Hebrew with English subtitles. DVD Special Feature: Behind-the-scenes featurette (without subtitles, 20 minutes; English subtitled short version, 5 minutes).

Deeply moving, enters into the rare cinematic realm of experiential life lessons.
Felt I shared these real people's experienced.Sensitive acting, touches the depths of the heart. I felt I truly loved the teacher who left me with inspiration for my own life goals. Also reminds me to be grateful to the rare, good people like him in life who give me hope for humanity and my own bself betterment. Today especially, we benefit from such lessons about the meaning of real power amidst the apparently powerful leaders whose names and effects we know, but whose ultimate influence is trivial in the light of eternity. This borrowed experience left me broken-hearted but appreciative. As a previous reviewer said, I thank the director and other film-makers who gave me this gift. and lifted me up.

Bad characters with no redeeming qualities
The lead actor’s character is such an arrogant little troublemaker, it makes you want to slap him across the face with a leather handkerchief. He’s miserable and loathsome. He and his band of troubled classmates are horrible to his teacher and seem to have no redeeming qualities.

Not really a gay movie but good for what it is
The only part I could see of this film being LGBT is that he seemed to have a crush on his married teacher who seemed to be a closeted gay man. It is interesting but if you are looking for a romantic movie go somewhere else.

Has nothing to do with LGBT
It's a good movie with convincing narrative and professional acting. The descriptions Amazon provides are almost always misleading, and so are the ratings.

NOT AN LGBT FILM- MISCATEGORIZED
Don't waste your time thinking you will watch a gay film despite an attached tag. There is absolutely nothing gay about it except the vague implications that the teacher offed himself due to being in the closet. THAT IS IT.99.9% of the film is about a deeply unlikeable hoodrat, who treats no one except his father with any modicum of respect, constantly confronting people out of place. And somehow he is tolerated instead of immediately expelled from school. And the film goes nowhere, it's a meandering mess. Yes, the point of the movie is that the teacher is a catalyst for introspection, but this guy doesn't even begin to close enough a process in change. He bombs his exam, trespasses on someone's home by the end and is on the verge of arrest, and his prospects seem to leave him in his scaffolding business despite how disinterested he is in it.In other words, an insufferable arthouse movie grossly miscategorized.

intriging
beautifully crafted with sensitivity and truth. brought me to a place i have never been and probably never will be. almost like intruding on a life you will never know. real acting professionals ….. you never see them out of character for a second ….. thank you to the director and editing.

Disconnected mess. Leads nowhere.
One might find something redeeming about this movie. I could find very little due to its disconnected lack of direction. Simply put it was awful. Don't bother.

This was not a "LGBT" film
I didn't enjoy this film. Except for the literature teacher, the characters were very stupid and annoying people. There is nothing remotely LGBTQ in this film either.
