NoritakeCrestwood Platinum - 5 piece place setting, White, 6" diameter

My husband and I decided on these after looking at several Mikasa plates. But, we found that Noritake has some of the best styles at an affordable price. Very delicate yet sturdy. The platinum specifically is a lot more sophisticated looking, rather than a romantic gold. The platinum layer on the design is gorgeous and thick. They look very formal and would be a great wedding gift. I thought they'd be too simple, but the design really gives it a less simple look than I was expecting because of the pattern. The pictures don't do them justice. Surprisingly more bold and eye catching.I'm not crazy about the water glasses that goes with these, which I bought separately, however I easily found some Mikasa crystal water goblets with a simple platinum edge that looks as though it came with this set. In other words, these dishes pair easily. Silver also goes well with these.These plates have a great weight which is not too heavy or light. A decent size. I feel they should be hand washed, although someone told me they put these in the dishwasher with no problem. I do not suggest that as it can wear down the platinum faster, or so I assume, therefore I err on the side of caution and hand wash to make sure the edges stay shiny new. They look as though they can break easily, but they rather sturdy if you ask me. We use these once a year though, so I have no idea how they'd hold up with regular use.If you don't decide on these, you HAVE to check out their other plates...they are so beautiful.The packaging was perfect. Nothing broken whatsoever, and nicely protected in their box. The boxes they come in are really nice, and you can keep them stored in those since they are sturdy and nicely designed.As far as worth goes, these were worth it at this price because of the heavy platinum coating - they certainly didn't give it just a cheap layer as I mentioned. And the porcelain is a very nice color, not an overly white or egg shell color, in between I would say.I don't think they would've been worth retail, but certainly at the price I paid. You can also find these at Bed Bath and Beyond for slightly more than they are listed here.BTW: I bought 5 of the 5-piece set, which is five 1-person settings. That saved me a lot of money doing it that way, rather than buying the 4-person setting plus an extra one. Or, the 8-person set up which was twice as much.I think you'll be pleased. We love them!

I bought this set as a gift. The package is more simple than what I bought from Macy’s several years ago. This is an Amazon box with plates inside directly. The sets bought from Macy’s were shipped in a Macy’s box; after you opened that box, there was a Mikasa box holding all the plates inside. If this set is for myself to use, I don’t mind the packaging, but this is a gift, so I gave 4-star.

This was a "desperate" purchase, as I needed a new plate for my good china in time for Christmas. Not only did I get a plate, but purchased the entire setting for the price of one plate on other sites. Even in the Christmas rush my setting arrived on the day the seller stated it would. Wonderful seller, great bargain, and we all got to use the same china for our Christmas meal!

Absolutely stunning out of the box. Can't comment on wear yet, but the metal is shiny, and the pattern is even. The pattern isn't overbearing,and I think food will look really good on the plates.

Ordered to replace a broken piece from our original set. Carefully packed, no problems at all.

We received our place setting well before Christmas, as we had timed it a little late! I was concerned about breakage etc. but every single piece was perfect. Great price too and much more convenient than the runaround I got at The Bay.

This was exactly what my sister was looking for to help complete her setting. It came in with no broken pieces and on time!
