Would this be good for brushes?

Yes, its good for brushes. Keep in mind that it is a very loud head and probably not the best for jazz. With hard rock/heavy metal, the sound has gotten a lot of praise.

Works for a 14" djembe ?

No. You’ll need to order the djembe head specific to the make/model of the djembe.

Why is is that i’ve ordered this drum head twice and have gotten the same, wrong one?

I am not sure why you are experiencing that. I would Suggest ordering from Musician Friend, or Sweetwater music.

They sent me the wrong size and the boxed it was shipped in was in perfect condition but product was absolutely thrashed. Someone purposely did that?

Sometimes things are shipped that is bunk. Ask for a refund and ship it back. They should make it right.
