Mind Blowing Gaming Experience
I just got this headset and couldn't be happier. I was a little skeptical when reading reviews that said their headsets came with a foul odor, but I did not notice any bad smell. In fact, they smelled brand new, like a new car smell. They looked brand new too. Mine did not come in the original box, but everything the headset should come with was in the box that they came in, and it was packaged nicely.First I plugged them into my phone and listened to music. The sound quality for music is pretty nice! Not anything spectacular or mind blowing for music, but what can you expect from a gaming headset?Let's move on to gaming performance. Wow. These sound great while playing Modern Warfare on Xbox one. I could easily locate my enemies, game noises sounded clear and distinct, the bass was definitely there but not overpowering, and gunfire sounds great. My buddies immediately noticed the difference in mic quality. I'm coming from the Turtle Beach Stealth 600s. Those had mediocre sound quality at best, and the mic was absolute garbage. My team mates could never hear me while speaking normally, so I would have to yell into the mic if I wanted to be heard. But with the Alphas my teammates heard me loud and clear every time. They never had to ask me "what?", And I never got flat out ignored because I wasn't even heard.Since I'm gaming on the Xbox one, I'm not able to purchase and use the Dolby 7.1 surround sound adapter that you can buy for these, but I found a solution. By purchasing Dolby Atmos surround sound audio for $15, and then enabling them in the Xbox settings for headphones, I was able to get full virtual surround sound out of these. And as the name implied, these feel just like a cloud sitting on top of your head. The ear cushions are extremely soft and made out of leatherette. The head band has quite a bit of soft, comfortable padding that sits comfortably on the top of your head. Honestly you hardly notice these are even on your head. The only con that some people may find with these in terms of comfortability is that due to the earpads being made out of fake leather, your ears could possibly get a bit warm after playing for long periods of time. But all in all, I'd say these headphones are pretty spectacular. I was looking at the Cloud 2's, the Sennheiser GSP 300s, and the Steelseries Arctis 5s. I'm extremely happy that I made the decision to get the Alphas over those, and I will be sticking with Hyper X in the future.

Best headset I've ever purchased
Comfortable, light, quality microphone, great sound, easy decision. I've tried multiple headsets, this beats all of them.

They're great.
They're great!! (I bought these refurbished so the 7.1 attachment is weird it makes one side of the headphones slightly louder than the other) (the 7.1 cord doesn't make them louder, like its not a DAC type thing, its like a powered volume/game chat control. The 7.1 button sounds like its turning on a EQ type setting where it aims sounds more towards the High Hz frequency, it definitely doesn't sound like 7.1, its definitely artificial sounding.) but the headphones themselves work great. It came with all the Cords and gear for them. They came with 2 different ear pads, the cloth is more comfortable but the faux leather sounds better, I guess it holds in more sound. The microphone is great and clear, I love how EVERYTHING is detachable and replaceable, they are not the LOUDEST but they are nice and clear. You can't use the 7.1 with xbox...kinda, there's a Bluetooth adapter plugs into a 3.5mm jack and you can attach it to the USB on the 7.1 and it'll work...BUT I highly doubt your actually getting the 7.1, but anywhere you can plug a USB into to get sound like maybe a computer or ps4 or even your TV( if it capable). The sliders are really great, sometimes when I listen to podcasts or watch YouTube videos, don't really need Bass, so I'll close them, but then I'll listen to rap and dubstep and rock and metal and ill crank those sliders all the way open. The bass isn't like super crazy outta this world, but its great you can actually hear low notes, playing with Hz it gets really Low like you can hear it down to 20Hz. The overall sound stage is pretty good, its not CRAZY wide but WAY better than BEATS and Bose and Sony. It's the best headphones IMO within this price range, like perfect for gaming, great for music. VERY versatile.

May need more time with it.
Update: Should have returned. There's a short in the wire right at the inline volume adjustment piece... Won't buy this brand again. I've never had issues with other renewed products either. My last set was still fine. 5 years old and $45 LESS than this set.Original: I'm transitioning from a super cheap headset I got during the pandemic (no longer available). I had no problems, I could tell, with that off-brand, but the ear muff coverings were starting to flake badly and I seemed to develop a short in the cord. So, a serious gaming friend recommended this brand. It could be that I need a break-in period because they're irritating after wearing more than an hour or so (tight... They seem lightweight.). It could also be I need to figure out settings, but I don't like hearing myself so loudly. I didn't have that with the previous set at all. But if I turn down the in-line volume then the microphone doesn't pick me up either. Finally, when I go to adjust the in-line volume it's scratchy, cuts in-and-out and appears as very poor quality, but that could be the price for this being a "renewed" set.Few more days, but leaning toward a return.
