NCAA Hover Helmet - Collectible Levitating Football Helmet with Electromagnetic Stand

Can't believe how cool this turned out to be! This is a must-have - it's seriously the perfect gift for college football fans... (Go Cougs!)It looked like an awesome idea from the product page, but I was worried about how it would actually turn out - so I ordered one to see... and I was blown away. It's AWESOME, and a must-have for fans. For starters, it's legit - the helmet is an authentic (be it miniature) replica of a real helmet; it's got all the pads a full-size helmet has, a metal facemask, etc., and it's heavy/sturdy; it feels like the real thing. Really caught me off guard with the quality there - and I expected it to be smaller than it actually is, so I was pleasantly surprised (it's the perfect size for a desk or your shrine; does not look/feel cheap).The levitation of the helmet is for real, thanks to a crafty electromagnet (just plug it in); and it's a piece of cake to set up. Again, way better than I expected. The LED lights add the perfect touch. My co-workers that are Cougar fans are jealous, those that root for rival schools are offended (another big plus in my book), and all of us have had fun trying to get the perfect amount of spin on the helmet as it levitates (because naturally, everyone wants to touch it and inspect it so we have to get it rotating again). Only "con" I can think of is how much time me/my co-workers have spent playing with it - but honestly that's more fun than anything.As soon as I had set it up and saw how cool it is, I immediately got my brother to order one, and picked up a couple more as gifts. I don't often do reviews, but I'm that impressed. I highly recommend this to real college football fans, young and old alike.

So my wife ordered a few of these for me and some other friends of mine that went to Maryland with me. First, right out of the box the helmet looks great and really is the perfect size for a desktop. Second, I love that they have the University of Maryland in the style helmet I grew up watching and went to school seeing. The one she gave me did have some issues maintaining the helmet hovering. As is stated in some of the other reviews, the helmet would just stick to the top of base. One call to the company though and they squared everything away. There was not a bit of hassle or questioning of my problem. The gentleman (Joe) on the phone set up for one to be shipped out to me that afternoon. So in the mean time, I have placed a small fishing lure in the helmet to help keep it floating. It is a little tilted but for the interim, I am OK with it. This really is a cool product and as a Maryland fanatic, I don't think there is anything more unique right now or as cool as this. If the new one works well, I may get another for my son's bedroom as a night light.I will update once I get my new one but from the way Joe talked, it seemed like a simple issue with the base that he can easily correct with a new one.

The media could not be loaded. This thing is almost unbelievable. It works exactly as described, see video. It is really easy to setup. The first time you hover it, it may be a little wobbly. Just add a touch of spin and it'll smooth out Sure, it's just an ornament, but it's a super cool one and a conversation piece. I did get the case for it, its a no Brainer as everyone wants to touch it. And it looks spectacular in the dark. A must have for the sports fan in your life

This thing worked great for over a year and then just stopped working. At first I thought my base had gone bad, but the real issue is the top of the helmet gets so magnetized over time that it's no longer reliable for extended periods. I give it a break occasionally to demagnetize and that seems to have solved the problem.

Super easy to put together and my 13 yr old son thinks it looks really cool on his desk. Love it.

Very fun and conversation piece as it spins on air

Very nice product with one major flaw. Overall, well made and looks good, but in order to get the helmet to "float", it needs to be plugged in. When plugged in, the lights go on and there is NO SWITCH TO TURN THEM OFF. So, I wanted to use this in a bedroom but the light is too. bright for sleeping. Why not a switch for the light? So easy to design and implement. Shame.
