Tilda Homemade & Happy
This book is so fun to look at. One of the first things I would like to make is the “strip throw”

Sweet and Serene
Saw this book recommended on a "shabby chic" themed blog and noticed a rag quilt on the cover. I've recently been bitten by the rag-quilting bug and also love the colors of the cover projects, so thought I'd give this a look. I've paged through the book cover-to-cover about four times; the projects are what I'd describe as "sweet, but complicated." The author's voice is very likable and she clearly has a passion for what she does. The book is more than a set of instructions; it's like an experience. You can easily get lost in the world of this beautiful, serene home filled with very high-quaility, handmade items that have a timeless, heirloom quality. Many of these items would appeal very much to children, but are clearly not meant as playthings. Most of these projects are, if you make them exactly as described, going to take many hours/days/weeks to complete. (The very idea of hand-quilting a rag quilt is quite daunting, especially when I could make a dozen machine-quilted lap throws in the time it would take to hand-quilt a crib blanket!) However, certain shortcuts one could utilize are obvious (skipping hand embroidery, for instance) and it wouldn't be too difficult to adapt many of these ideas to your own skill set/patience.The projects are all very appealingly photographed and aesthetically pleasing. While I actually have no use for a long-legged stuffed reindeer, I'm fairly certain I am doomed to make one in the near future, as every time I run across the photo, I feel such a longing to have one! In this sense, the book is one I'll keep around for the eye candy aspect alone, even if I never do make any of the projects.

A gift to myself----
I gave this to myself as an early Christmas gift ( I often do this). I have all of these 'Tilda' books and this is one of the best ! The old world Father Christmas is wonderful and so are the matching stockings. I also loved the pastel trees in clay pots. There are long and skinny reindeer and lambs, as well as cute pigs and other stuffed animals. The quilt or throw would be easy to make with only one pattern piece. And then, there is the sewing angel with the notions to go with her. You can not help but love this book if you do crafts. OK, I 'm ready for the next book now.

Love Tilda!
I am addicted to Tone Finnanger's Tilda book series. They contain very unique ideas and projects. Patterns and directions are easy to understand. The books themselves contain beautiful layouts and photographs as well.
