desertcart.com: The Fallen (Memory Man Series, 4): 9781538761380: Baldacci, David: Books Review: Great Read - Deckers character evolves with each new book? Be sure to read them in order so you can see the transformation Review: Classic Baldacci storytelling with lots of characters, danger, death, and sleuthing by the Memory Man. - My wife and I recently finished the series' latest installation of the Memory Man, the Fallen. This one's loaded with a plethora of characters, so much so that if I didn't read it in few days, I'm afraid I would be a little lost recalling who's who in the plotline. I find that it's pretty much impossible to pre-guess the bad apples in Baldacci's tales, and it must be an intentional design by the author. Perhaps I'm just not as sensitive to any clues dropped along the way, but usually I can find them and devise a path that is at least close to the unraveling of the suspense in the novels that I read, but not so with this one or the others in this series it seems. Nevertheless, my ineptitude in clue-deciphering doesn't relate to the quality of the tale delivered by the prolific David B., who once again keeps us fairly riveted to the words as they progressively build the drama from page to page. He is quite the story teller, the raconteur as they say in sophisticated parlance. You just gotta love the memory man himself, with his quirkiness and impeccable memory skills, but those skills are challenged by another blow to his cranium, and changes in his perceptions and reactions are what follows, making it a bit more interesting as Decker plods along amidst a destroyed vacation attempt to unravel the complex goings on in this story. A compelling and intoxicating suspense, in typical Baldacci style, the Fallen will not disappoint those who are fans of the genre and/or of the author. In retrospect, it seems like this series could be adapted for a screenplay/movie easily enough, and it almost seems that there is an underlying motive for just that as the violence and the dangerous suspense builds along the way.

The best yet!
What an incredible, heart-grabbing, mind-blowing mystery! Amos Decker, along with his partner, is supposed to be on vacation at her sister’s place. Jamison understands Decker’s uniqueness and has a great platonic working relationship with him. While they are there Decker observes some rather disturbing sights in a house that he runs to investigate. Jamison knows there goes the vacation as she refuses to sit on the sideline while Amos chases down leads. Plus, within a short time, the mystery embroils her sister’s family when her husband is killed while at work. Jamison’s 6-year-old niece loses her father on her birthday and that just grips the heart of Amos in so many ways. If you have followed the Memory Man series, you know how this touches Amos very deeply and makes him face some of his own personal losses again. Readers familiar with the uniqueness of how Amos thinks and works will really enjoy the way David Baldacci has Amos going through some neurological changes. These changes cause Amos to think long term and wonder exactly how long he can keep working without losing what memory he has left. The ending of the book is very touching, and I absolutely loved the way its is written! I hope this isn’t the last we see of Decker and Jamison as I enjoy them working together on solving crimes. Zoe, the little girl in the story, really grabbed my heart and I loved how it drew out the heart of Amos. The mystery was top notch and many surprises are in store for those who venture into the book. You don’t want to miss this thriller! If you haven’t read Amos Decker in the Memory Man series, start with the first book titled, Memory Man and catch up in the series before the next novel is released!

Another fantastic Amos Decker crime mystery.
Amos Decker is almost a real person to me as I am reading all the Memory Man novels in a row. He never disappoints, and I know that when I start the next novel, I will be just as amazed as I was with the first one. David Baldacci is an Uber author.

very complex and interesting story
Never a dull moment or a single direction. Much truth in the story. A very good story with a meaningful ending.

A great read.
If there is one thing David Baldacci is is he’s a good story teller. I’ve read several of his books and each has been just as good as the others. Unfortunately, this book came along at a time when I was involved in other activities, so I was not able to stay with the read for any length of time. As such, the story got away from me from time to time. The good news, however, was I did not need to re read pages to recall where I had left off when once I started up again. That is what I consider tight plot. The read moved along at a pace with no “dead” spots as filler awaiting the writer to decide where next he wanted to go with the story. Character development is really a plus for this writer for both protagonists as well as antagonists. The story rises to the anti-climax and thence to the falling action and resolution in a linear pattern. Amos Decker comes across as a believable investigator in his pursuit of of “who dunnit?” Baldacci excels at tying the plot together at the end so there are no loose ends. I admit that there were scenes wherein I could not follow what Decker was thinking, but, again I think that simply went to what I said above by not staying with the read for prolong periods of time. Baldacci calls the reader to get involved in the story, to follow the path he lays in order to get the message he wants to send. It’s no wonder that this writer gets the acclaim he does. All of which he richly deserves. I don't re tell story lines in my reviews, but suffice it to say, this was another great read by a gifted writer.

Another great read by Baldacci
As you progress through the Amos Decker series you become more enthralled by the main character. Another page turner which you will not want to put down!

Alas, not up the earlier Amos Decker books.
This book was too predictable, not Baldacci's customary twists. For a small town the cops are involved in the money or drug chains. Alas that's too true in real towns and cities all over. On the plus side, Baldacci did do great research in the connections between Baron's butler and Australia and Decker's brain to piece together how that could connect to the treasure. I will read the remaining books in the Amos Decker series, hoping they're as good as the 2nd and 3rd. .

Buono ma ho trovato la storia è un po' troppo complicata e alla fine è stato necessario spiegare tutti i fatti.

This is a good story from Baldacci. I see here lesser killing than in some of his other works. A welcome change, from my perspective at least. Having said that, here we get acquainted with certain things that are probably happening around the world - drug addiction and its consequences on people’s economy. How families are being ruined, crime-rates are rising, how organised societies are fast crumbling. I also could feel the pain of unemployed, homeless and hopeless people who willy-nilly get cast out of the society and fall through all networks. That is real damnation, this is the hell into which a man falls. Scary, really scary. This aspect - of desperation leading to depravity - has been well presented. But the exact details of what each character did, by Decker and Jamison, in the last chapter could have been left to reader’s imagination.

Baldacci books never ever let me down. This is another book that never let me put down. いつの出版されると読んでます。 翻訳本がなかなかでないので、原書で読みますが、止まりません。 バルダッチの本は内容といい使われている英語といい、とても私的的です。

I hadn't Read Baldacci for a few years and thought he'd be running out of steam, so this book was a pleasant surprise. I was born, educated and started my career in Chicago and LA but haven't lived in the US now for 48 years. This book told me about what's going down today in a masterful way. Couldn't put it down and read it in one day and one night.
