Since the goal of building this is to foster childrens' interest in technology, they might have kept this in mind when putting together the instructions. Not only is it poorly written (ie, English was not their writers first language), all the is primarily given are complicated diagrams showing what part fits into what. Even an adult would have difficulties building this, let alone a child with the help of an adult, or an older child on their own. I bought it for my 12 year old for Christmas and he hasn't really enjoyed building it due to the poor instructions.

This works but requires a lot of patience to assemble, especially the gear box. A wire on a motor broke off and had to be resoldered. This is not for most young children but for mature teenagers and older. The directions are limited but complete requiring some study and looking ahead. If you buy this for a young child, be prepared to do much, if not most, of the assembly. Try to do it on a table or clear floor because the parts are small and easy to lose.

This was a fun project to put together with my nephews but there were a lot of tiny pieces and it was a little difficult to screw things in sometimes with the tiny screwdriver provided. It was an overall success though as they enjoyed putting together the pieces to build something.

This was a GREAT gift for our 8 year old grandson. The instructions were wonderfully intuitive. I would recommend this to anyone who revels in working together with a young person to assemble and understand basic elements of engineering.Please keep these projects coming.

This was advertised as being appropriate for a 12 year old child, but even my son who works on Jet engines could not put it together.

My 6 year old grandson loved it. He did need some assistance from his Dad to put it together. He enjoys it very much.

Returned it because a wire was not attached properly to the motor
