Large 1/2" Mermaid Scales Fabric 4 Way Stretch Spandex 58“ Sold by The Yard (2 Yards Continues, Turquoise Purple Green)

Just received this fabric and was extremely disappointed to find it was only a lightweight, thin 2-way stretch rather than the 4-way stretch it was advertised as. Amazon should correct the title/description as it's false advertising. Needed to make a formfitting swimsuit like costume top with it, but due to it being only 2-way stretch, it wouldn't work at all. Waste of money and time/effort. Would not recommend.

One of the cheapest options for this color / type of mermaid color but the material did not suffer. Used this to sew a costume last year and it has held up for a full year and several event. Scales well attached material has a nice stretch without being weak. If you are looking for something light and bodysuit / bathing suit type this material would work great. May not be the best option for a skirt but even when stretched skin tight you cannot see through the material.

This fabric is gorgeous and stretchy but it is very delicate. It was relatively easy to sew and has a lovely bounce. Any finished product would definitely be hand wash only and don’t expect it to have a long life. This fabric does not hold up well to wear or temperature. All though it is very thin and there is mesh between the scales, the foil of the shiny scales is not very breathable. I would still recommend this fabric if making an outfit for a special event as it is very beautiful!

To be fair, the fabric is beautiful, and I am going to keep it, but was very disappointed with the color.I ordered the turquoise/green/purple iridescent color, what I got was a pink/baby blue color... No green at all.It will not work for the project I'm working on since I needed the green color, but will keep it for future projects.

I'm disneybounding as ariel for my Disney trip and bought this to make a skirt. I got 3 yards since it's a one-way pattern but I think 2 would've been enough. The black parts that make the scale design are a little see-thru so I recommend lining it. the scales are 1/2 inch from tip to the bottom of the curve like the description says. I will post a picture when I'm done making the skirt. It also has a shine shift.

I've used this company a couple if times for my tails. I ordered the blue this time to make a children's tail; everything was perfect as usual. I added a few pieces of the pink I had previously ordered; to make things really pop. Turned out beautiful!

I just received my fabric which was folded up and as soon as I opened it it had a big rip/hole going through every layer in the fold it’s basically unusable! I was so excited for this to arrive with it being prime but I’m very disappointed and won’t be buying it again!

My granddaughter wanted to be a white dragon for Halloween, and there’s not a lot of white dragon fabric out there. This is a little bit on the silvery side but it worked perfectly. And it’s great fabric to work with.
