Stainless Steel Butter Slicer

I had a different model (same concept, just slightly smaller) for over 20 years and loved it, but one Thanksgiving my daughter fell in love with it and I gave it to her, she still has it. While looking to replace it I found this one and the second time I tried to use it one of the wires snapped. Poor, poor quality, wasted my money!

I got this to make neat pats of butter. Now I use it to slice fruit, avocado, dough, and I'm sure I'll find more uses for it. The size is wide enough to fit everything I slice, and it is long enough to slice a standard stick of butter - just barely. The wire is strong but if it gets messed up, I can re-string the gadget with new wire. Because of the way the thing is made that would be easy.

This is exactly what I needed-as I use bar butter that I needed cut into tablespoon sizes however the 3rd bar I cut-one of the metal tines broke already!

Could not believe the first time I used it, the wires broke. Very disappointing but ...... I am trying to figure out how to fix it!

I am a professional baker and I use the slicer to cube my butter. Makes perfect butter cubes for pastry and pie doughs.

After only about 6 uses, the wires broke loose, impossible to re-install. I have thrown it away. The wires need to be much sturdier and anchored to the unit much better. Totally disappointed

I previously had the smaller 1/4 pound version. This one is of much better quality and doesn't cut off the corners of the 1/4 pound. Since it can be used to slice a pound at a time it is more useful. I like the butter slicer because it is easier to measure (5 slices of the 1/4 pound is a tablespoon). The extra benefit is that the rest of the butter is less likely to become "contaminated" with bread crumbs, etc. Butter slices make "presentation" easier and nicer.

the body is aluminum and oxidizes and turns grayish black as soon as you put it in the dishwasher, the wires for cutting the butter is stainless. Perfect size for one pass cutting of Kerry golds irish butter. I plan to keep it but wish the whole thing was stainless.
