Edmund Gwenn plays Kris Kringle, a bearded old gent who is the living image of Santa Claus. Serving as a last-minute replacement for the drunken Santa who was to have led Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Kringle is offered a job as a Macy's toy-department Santa. Supervisor Maureen O'Hara soon begins having second thoughts about hiring Kris: it's bad enough that he is laboring under the delusion that he Review: Would recommend - Best movie ever! Review: The Original Is Usually The Best - . . . and so it is here. "Miracle on 34th Street" is a genuine classic. I would no more watch a remake of it than I would of "It's A Wonderful Life." The simple storyline is layered with various emotions. The cast is top-drawer from Hollywood's golden era: Maureen O'Hara (so charmed by the script that she cut short a visit with family in Ireland to make it), John Payne, a very young and very talented Natalie Wood, and the incomparable Teddy Gwynn, who won a supporting actor Oscar as the true Kris Kringle. This budget-price DVD includes a surprising number of interesting special features, including a special segment created for Turner Classic Movies. In all, this is a delighful addition to anyone's holiday viewing.

One of my favorite movies
One of my favorite movies. All the actors portray their character wonderfully. Reminds me of childhood. Love the older classic movies.

Good shape for used DVD
Case is flimsy, disc says disc two so it is obviously part of a double set. Disc also has a smudge on it but plays fine, no skipping or freeze frame.
