Good from factor, poor battery, bad PWM
Review of Coralov LED Camping LanternThe package includes the lamp, a plastic hook with cord for hanging the lamp, a micro USB charging cord, an unmarked 18650 rated by the seller at 2000mAh, and a set of instructions. When I bought the lamp it was rated at 350 lumens. The ad was later updated and now the light is rated at 800 lumens. The seller says it has a lifetime guarantee with a 90 day refund.Seller lists 30 2835-LEDs as being the light source.DescriptionThe battery inserts into a screw capped tube in the bottom of the lamp. The battery runs up the center of the lamp and it makes for a nice compact package. The supplied battery is a non-protected flat top. The battery cap is magnetic so the light can be attached to something metal. There are 6 LED strips distributed around the internal battery tube. Running vertically each strip has 4 white LEDs separated by a single red LED in the center of each strip. On top of the light is the power switch, a micro USB charging port, and a collapsible loop for hanging the light. The switch seems to be well sealed against water intrusion. The USB port plug is snug and looks like it can withstand the elements. The battery compartment has an O-ring and just needed a bit of lube to insure a water tight fit and smooth operation. The box says the light rated IPX6 which is pressurized spray. The instructions rate it to IPX7 which is a dunk to 1 meter depth.I would not hesitate to use this in a hard rain.Observations and TestsThe construction is excellent considering the price point of this lamp. The plastic top and bottom have no flex and seem well attached to the central tube. The light tube also seems quite sturdy. I think this would survive many falls onto grass or dirt without problem. The UI:First click = High.Second click = Medium (or median as the instructions tell us)Third click = Low (or weak as per instructions).Fourth click = Solid Red.Fifth click = Flashing Red (steady pulse, no SOS).Sixth click = Off. You have to click through all the modes to turn it off.The lamp is rated at 350 lumens or 800 lumens (depending on the ad listing). I have a photographic light meter, a lux meter, and some other lights to compare it with using the ceiling bounce method. It was hard to judge this light because it radiates in a 360 degree pattern.A guess puts the light at 200-350ish lumens. When you first power it up the first impression is – Gee it’s not that bright. There is plenty of light for indoor emergencies. Outdoors it’s not going to set the night on fire, but would work for a picnic table or working under a car. There goes a star for overstating the output.Using a fresh 30Q battery I measured 0.6a at the tail cap on high, 0.17a on medium, 0.04a on Low, and 0.51a on red.The supplied battery is a flat top unprotected cell. A solder blob battery will fit. A protected cell might be too long. The battery has no mAh markings and is rated by the seller at 2000mAh (according to the ad copy). The battery tested 1695mAh and 59mOhm.That’s about 85% of the rated capacity. There goes a second star.Using the freshly charged supplied battery the lamp ran for 124 minutes on high before dropping off the voltage curve and dimming way down. I pulled the battery and it was at 2.5v. There is no low voltage protection and letting the lamp continue to run can result in battery damage. The instructions do warn not to run the light after it gets dim.Recharging the battery inside the light drew 0.63 amps max and I measured 4.25volts after it finished a charge cycle. The power switch acts as a charge indicator. It’s red when charging and orange-yellow when finished (the instructions say it should turn green). The magnetic battery cap will hold the light upside down (like from the underside of a car hood). What’s it look like?On high the light is soft and well defused and has no hot spots around the circle of light like so many other cheap lanterns. The top and bottom create shadows in the corresponding areas.Medium and low are nicely spaced and the blinking red is plenty bright for a road side warning. Unfortunately the PWM is very noticeable on medium. On low it is downright nasty. On red the PWM is not noticeable.Take a look at the accompanying O-Scope shots of the PWM.High, Medium, and then low.The horizontal scale is 2ms.Look how short a time the low power setting is on during a cycle. Yuck.I included a shot of a high speed PWM from a $17 headlamp. Notice the huge difference in frequency.ConclusionsThe form factor is great for a camping type of lantern. It’s plenty bright on high for a tent light and has a useful flashy red. Medium and low are tough to deal with because of the PWM.The lack of low voltage protection is a real shortcoming. The battery is poor quality. I would call this close but no cigar.Used on high it's fine. Low is unusable if any motion is going to be seen.It lasts a long time on low and in an emergency the nasty PWM is what it is.Run times on high with a quality battery would be much better. It would be better to sell the thing without a battery and spend the small savings on using a better controller that has a faster PWM frequency.

Great price! Great value. Excellent light!
What a great camping light! At 280 Lumens with a soft white light it is a great addition to our camping gear. The 2000mAh capacity means we can use it for weeks without a charge. And the charge is so much better than batteries. We have a camper can with solar power, so we can continue to charge devices like this light when we need to. But the battery will last for 5 hours of continuous lighter. We only use it for maybe an hour at a time and not every night. What I really like about this light is the durability. It is all plastic, but it is still very durable. The last light we have was a hard plastic and we broke it on a trip to Moab. This one is twice as small and much brighter with a more durable softer plastic case that will take small falls off tables or logs. The 3 brightness modes are perfect. There is also a red and flashing red mode that is nice as well. It even has a magnetic bottom that is a great add to a great design.Last it is IPX7 waterproof and would have not problem working in a downpour if you take it on a hike.Great price! Great value. Excellent light!

No longer includes battery
I got one and it didn't have a battery as listed in the title, so I exchanged it, but the new one didn't have one either. So it appears that it no longer comes with a battery and the item title is incorrect. Given that the battery costs half as much as this lamp that's a big affect on the true value.

Great little light
I like that it is magnetic and has a little handle you can hang it from and all the different choices for lights, bright, dim, red

It does a great job while charged
The charge lasts about 2 hours on high but before it goes out it is pretty bright. If you need something for a short time between charges it's a great product and I would recommend it. Not really designed for extended camping trips.

Perfect little lantern
I had 18650 batteries for other flashlights, and was looking to be able to leverage those in some type of portable lantern. This little thing is awesome.

Great Little Portable Lantern!
I absolutely LOVE this little portable lantern! It charges via usb, has 3 different brightnesses, can be a red light - or a flashing red light. It is a little smaller than I thought it might be, but seems plenty powerful for a campsite - which is what I bought it for.
