Very sturdy and perfect for holding my books in place! These white bookends are great for my white shelves. Just as expected.

These work well, are sturdy, plus, they have a hole in the base, as pictured, to secure them to a shelf if needed. I added mouldings to my shelves, so, when the bracket is pressed against it, it is going no where except during an earth quake or something. The bracket is holding about six feet of books up straight.If using the screw, I would keep it to the outside of the book stack, as pictured, to keep the book level, especially a soft cover and to avoid a screw rusting against a book because the paper had acid in it.The listing shows bright white, they are more an almond or antique white, white is the vertical metal shelf system and the so far unpainted PVC moulding trim. Which are not BRIGHT white like the paint used on the wall behind the shelves. Though I was a tad disappointed that the brackets where not a true white, as shown on the listing, someone else will likely be happy theirs was that color or would not notice at all. My wife did not notice the color difference and did not care what color they are.imho, So, nothing worth deducting a star, just showing it in case someone is truly set on a bright white bracket. I liked these so much, I ordered a second set and I am likely to order a 3rd, if that means anything. Just glad to have them and my wife is even happier because it's her library I made.

These things are sturdy! I use them in a cubical that has book bins. Before purchasing these the book bins kept getting pushed back and uneven.I purchased these and lined them on the bottom with double sided tape to keep the bins and books from sliding or getting pushed back.They keep everything nice and neat. They appear to be scratch resistant and of a high quality metal. Would definitely recommend!
