Mazama Ultravalve Drink Tube Set-Hydration Pack Replacement Hose

I like these and the idea of these.PROS*Innovative bite valve where you can adjust it to not need to bite to get water. Basically like sucking through a straw.*Great idea on the midway break point in the hose. It’s so you can fill your bladder from the outside without having to rummage through you bag and entirely remove the bladder. The idea is that midway through the hose, you have a female “port” you can access to fill using anything with the male end on it. (Bought the same idea from Sawyer, but didn’t need it because of this hose - well I did need the additional make end)CONS*The turning of the bite valve between “on” and “off” (180degrees and 90degrees) is difficult. You’ll need two hands, it’s too tight. Might become annoying with extended use*The hose and midway ports are set up incorrectly. Out of the box, the shorter end is by the bladder and the longer end is by the bite valve. As is, the midway ports will be tucked into your bad and inaccessible from the outside. (Which defeats the purpose). You will have to switch the hose segments so the LONG end is by the bladder, so there’s enough hose to make the midway ports accessible from the outside.

Shocking to me that this is not coming from Camelback, Osprey, patagonia or other major hydropack manufacturer because it is better than any of their dispensers. The bite valve works great, and it is easy to lock off or pit on the dust cap to prevent the dreaded ‘drain all over your car, gear, closet, tent foul’. Best of all, if you use the Sawyer squeeze water filter (highly recommend!!), it fits this quick connect so you can just gravity-drain or squeeze filter water straight into your bladder without having to remove it or fuss with the lame screw caps most of them come with. A little heavy and clunky as one reviewer suggested, bit oh-so-worth it!! Also, the grab magnet is a neat little bonus, I never knew I needed that but love it!

Other than the valves being difficult to remove from the hose for cleaning, it's a mean setup. I love it. Didn't have a taste (though all my hydro gear gets soaked in apple vinegar for 24 hours and heavily rinsed prior to use). Love the extension and the bite valve worked better than the one off my old line.

Fit my camelback, and my no name blader! If weight is an issue, this is a heavy set up when ounces matter.

The bite valve leaked. Even in the off position. It drained my water bladder. Luckily I carry a water filter. I was able to get more water.

Feels well made and design features of magnetic clip Wow.

Great fit on Ultimate Direction and Orange Mud vests.
