The Liturgical Organist, Vol. 3
R**N
This is the real Volume 3.
As you can see from the picture, this truly is the correct Volume Three of Carlo Rossini's "Liturgical Organist" series. Unlike the completely bogus attribution and description on the Amazon web site, Pamela and Robert Schultz have absolutely NO connection with this music! As you might expect from the word "liturgical" in the title, this music is pleasant though stodgy. Volume 3 is the first that consists entirely of "medium" difficulty compositions. They are actually pretty easy. But I've been retired a long time and am quite rusty. For me now they are challenging enough; I hope to use them to recover some of my former facility. The earliest arranger's copyright date I could find was 1940. The compositions themselves date as far back as the 16th century. With today's recorded backup tracks and electric guitars, Rev. Rossini's Preface reads like what it actually is: reflections from a long bygone era. But if you read it with the right mindset, you might gain some insight into how the previous generation felt about life and service as an organist.

USED MANY YEARS
I ALREADY HAD VOL.3 & ORDERED AGAIN BY MISTAKE,WHICH YOU TOLD ME TO KEEP ,NO NEED TO SHIP BACK-SO I ORDERED VOL. 4...HAVE USED VOL. 3 FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS--THAT & VOL. 1 (THE ORIGINALS FROM 30-40 YEARS AGO)--ARE LIKE MY BIBLE OF MUSIC AND USUALLY PLAY 3 OR 4 SELECTIONS IN THE SAME KEY AS A PRELUDE---VOL. 4 IS MORE INTERESTING IN THAT THERE ALSO ARE SOME LONGER PIECES--- I HAVE ALSO SEPARATED ALL THE PAGES IN VOL. 3 PUNCHING IN 3 HOLES TO PUT IN A 3 HOLE BINDER WHICH MAKES IT EASIER TO GO FROM ONE PIECE TO ANOTHER QUICKLY....

Handy, go-to book for organ music in a traditional service.
Lots of short pieces for use in any traditional service. Written for organ - many have very little and easy pedaling, but there are quite a few challenging pieces also. I am a pianist who is mostly self-taught on organ, so I appreciate the variety of difficulty. They do not have titles, so in the church bulletin, I list them as "Untitled" by Composer's Name. Some are only 8 measures long, some are 2 pages. Sorted by key, if you have an aversion to lots of accidentals. LOL I also have Vol 1 and Vol 2.

Am a small church organist, (don't live among the organ pipes high in a loft) but THE LITURGICAL ORGANIST is a must for every organist to have-great short introductable pieces to introduce hymns, longer preludes & recessional pieces, modulations from one key to another ect. I plan to purchase other vols. in near future

Litergical Organist Volume Three in the series
Another in the LO series that is very handy for a working organist. Many of the elevations can be transformed into superb modulations bridging pieces as well as being used as solos.
