Best Book on Manners for Kids
This book is the best book on manners for children. The author covers almost every situation imaginable and the comic strip illustrations of kids role playing good and bad manners are perfect. This book should have won the Caldecott Award! I've read a lot of books on manners for children and this is by far superior to all of them. This book is clear, simple, fun and gets the message across to kids.

Ideal for an 8yo
Many people buy this book for preschoolers, but IMHO the subtlety of the illustrations are lost on younger kids. My 5yo liked the story, but my 8yo read it realized that manners make people want to be around you (or not!). This book is very well done - the message is those who have manners always know when they're around someone who doesn't, which person do you want to be?

I had this book as a child and recently purchased it for my 4 year old daughter. The lessons are literally timeless, and the style appeals to all ages as even my 8 year old boys couldn't help but peaking over my shoulder as I was reading it to her.

Behavior and etiquette
Great book for teaching young children compassion of others feelings, recognizing and acknowledge their feelings, and good etiquette.

Not the ultimate guide, but very good.
I got this for my 4-year-old granddaughter, and she is pleased with it. The illustrations are bright and cute, and the language is simple enough for her to understand. I think the scenarios are a little long and involved for her right now, but this is a book she can "grow into", which I definitely like. I am admittedly old-fashioned, so there are a couple of things I do not agree with -- I actually consider them rude (I would NEVER tell a total stranger "Madame, seats are not for feets.", for example) -- but overall it is a good guide for manners.

A very necessary book
this book doesn't go overboard on the conventions of reasonable polity and it is such a needed book in our day.

Maybe good for older kids- but read to my 2/12 year old and main problem is that the book shows more bad behaviors than good behaviors. A reviewer had stated that this book includes "opposites" and shows both good and bad behavior but this is not true- many pages only show the "bad" way to behave without providing the guide to model good behavior. still I think my 5 year old nephew would probably want to see examples of good behavior too.

5) loved it, and read it many times
My daughter (5.5) loved it, and read it many times. I also overheard her "teaching" her 3.5 year old sister good manners. I first borrowed it from the library. After seeing how she liked it, I bought one for her.

Fantastic book for children
Fantastic book for children.I had this book when I was a child and liked it so much, I got one for my niece. What I liked about this book is that its illustrations are very good, clear and humorous for even little kids. It is colorful and interesting and discusses manners and etiquettes in different situations and settings which I found very helpful. I would recommend this book to all those that want to instruct children about manners in a fun and interesting way.

Great book with lots of scenarios
The book came in excellent shape, and the packaging was impressive - not too bulky or wasteful.
