Delicious Morning Coffee
Have used this brand of coffee for years and years and years. Absolutely delicious. I do it in an 18 hour drip and store it in a container in the refrigerator. Each morning mix some with milk heat it and best of the best. Delicious flavor and blend!

I have found my forever coffee.
This is the real deal. This is some darn fine coffee. Dark, rich, almost chocolatey, low acid, mild chicory flavor. Very reasonably priced, and the bricks store and keep well. I may even subscribe to this. edit in 2018: Still drink it every day. The regular grind and autodrip ARE different despite other reviewers; the auto is finer and more evenly ground, while the regular is rough cut. Personally, I prefer the regular. There is a dash button now, and Alexa orders it just fine too. My friends all rave about our coffee, and even tell their friends. Ive been to NOLA (pre Katrina) and this is what they drink, not the red can. That's for tourists and hipster coffee shops. I notice many reviewers mention using less. NO! it's supposed to be strong! That way when you add the steamed milk, and sugar, it still tastes robust and full-bodied! (I drink mine black, lol). If you take your coffee seriously, this is the stuff you've been looking for.

Use lower amount in your French press
I bought a 4 brick pack (52 ounces total) for 17.52 about a month ago and just finished the first brick. That's about 5.39 a pound----more than I usually spend on coffee. However---I've found that I need less of this stuff to get good flavor than I would with regular coffee. With this, I use 1 gram of coffee for each fluid ounce of water---usually 16 grams and 16 ounces of water to make a decent mug full with my French press. With regular non-chicory coffee, I'd use probably 22 grams of coffee for 16 ounces of water. So, the lower amount offsets the higher price. I guess that's one of the benefits of chicory. 3 minutes brew time is fine for a French press. More time doesn't help. More coffee doesn't help. I've also tried French Market chicory coffee and Community chicory coffee. They are all about the same. I'd just buy whatever is cheapest--which is often this CDM brand.

Comparing CDM with Cafe du Monde
This coffee with chicory is a great budget alternative to Cafe du Monde, but it is not the same. As background, I brew my coffees in a Nespresso Vertuo reusing prefilled pods. For chickory, I use pods from Starbucks Verona. Nespresso brew style changes based on the pod's barcode, and the Verona has three spin levels giving a strong brew and a tall, foamy head. In comparrision with Cafe du Monde, CDM is visually less appealing. The grounds are larger and less consistant in size. There is more stick-like and chaf-like material--it resembles pipe tobacco. The stick like material makes no major difference, but teh chaf-like material will cling to tools and make for more cleanup. If you tamp your grounds, the larger grind will not compress as well. As for brewing and flavor, CDM brews richly and forms a tall, thickly foamed head, but the head is lighter in color than Cafe du Monde. Both coffees have rich, bold flavor and are nearly opaque in a clear cup. Both are best with LOTS of cream ( I like 4 to 6 ounces in 8 ounces of brew). CDM makes a smoother cup, but there are more of the chocalate notes in the Cafe du Monde. If cost is the primary factor, buy CDM and you will get a great cup of smooth coffee. If your crave the chocolately notes, spend a bit more and get the Cafe du Monde.
