Q: What is best 4 or 6 sides? What is the thing on the end of the 6 side with the hole in the middle for????

I've found six sides to give more flexibility and options, and it's my preference, although four sides are still OK. The thing on the end can be used easily template the position of pipes of varying sizes. For example, if you are tiling in a bathroom around water pipes, you can set the sides of the ruler for the tile size, then take the ruler to the area the tile will cover and position the round end where the pipe is located. Then you can lock the round end in place, take the ruler to your tile, and mark out the cut position you need to make for the pipe. It's really quick and accurate, and there's a few good videos on YouTube demonstrating this kind of use. I'm sure it's useful for other things too!

Each piece is 6 “ long so when folder 6” square land when open each piece is 6” long so just add them
