Organic Wool 3-Inch Eastern King Size Mattress Topper

There was an odd smell to this wool topper right out of the plastic packaging (not too fond of the plastic package, but oh-well), but I let it air out, opened on my mattress for the day, and a lot of the smell dissipated. I had to fluff it out quite a bit to even out the wool. It did make a big difference on the comfort level, allowing my pregnant wife to turn less throughout the night.

I purchased this topper for cooling and softening a firm latex mattress that slept hot. Initially this worked well but a year in and the wool has now compressed with body impressions to a degree where it is no longer helping with comfort despite fluffing and rotating almost weekly. It still keeps the mattress cool but I would likely not purchase again.

I am having neck/back issues and considered purchasing a new high end European mattress, with a wool topper that ran an additional $1000+. Instead I tried this topper on my existing, high quality Beautyrest mattress that is in good condition, but which I now find to be too firm. This new topper is exactly what I wanted. It has created a very comfortable and much more cozy bed. I have slept great since I received it nearly a week ago. As to some of the other reviews, I disagree with several criticisms, First, it does not have a strong, bad odor, I am very sensitive to odors (hate fragrances) and while I could smell the wool when this came out of the box, it was a relatively faint smell that I don't smell when it is on the bed under my mattress protector and sheets. Truly there is zero smell to me after having this in my bed for a week. As to the person who said this is heavy, it isn't heavy. Yes it is a 3" topper for a queen sized bed, but the whole thing weighs very little. When the FedEx delivery guy handled me the box when it arrived I was surprised that the box was not heavy and was easy to carry. It also stays just fine on my bed under the mattress protector/fitted sheet and does not move around because it is thick, Finally, it is same exact size as the top of my queen sized Beautyrest mattress. For people who say it doesn't fit their beds, either their bed is not a standard size or they received something different than I received. I've had a few friends lie on the bed and everyone agrees it is really comfortable. I do agree that the wool compresses in spots and the topper will need to be fluffed up from time to time. Also while I hoped this would go a long way to help with some neck problems I'm having, I'm doubtful it will. But I am comfortable and sleeping better. Very happy and feel that this organic wool/cotton topper is actually a good value, even though not a cheap product. If I have any further feedback after I've had it for a few months, I will update this review.

I have a Temperpedic mattress, which is horribly hot to sleep on. I read somewhere that these organic wool mattress toppers would help me have a cooler night's sleep, so I ordered one. At first, it was pure heaven on earth--soft and cool. BUT, the topper isn't baffled, so the wool shifts quite a bit. You have to lift it up and shake it out EVERY WEEK or it becomes nothing but hills and valleys, and so uncomfortable that it actually caused me some pretty severe back pain. The problem with having to shake it out is that it's quite heavy. I've finally taken it off my bed. I can't baffle it myself, as my sewing machine won't take something that's three inches thick, so if I want to be able to use it again, I'm going to have to hand-baffle it, which is such a huge job that it hardly makes it worthwhile.I can only recommend this item to strong people who make their bed every week and have the strength to lift it up and shake it out.

When something impacts my health or well being it deserves a review.The Bio Sleep Organic Wool 3-Inch Queen Size Mattress Topper is a generously filled, quality topper. Having switched among the best mattresses out there including natural rubber with pillow-top and memory foam, regardless of firmness, I simply could not find a good solution. Any attempt to sleep on my side would result in my legs going-to-sleep or shoulder pain. Sleeping on my back often resulted in sweating. A part of the problem is that I am on the light end of the range for my height, and I have fairly broad shoulders and a high metabolism rate (I tend to feel a bit hotter than the average person).The Bio Sleep topper is a good thickness with surprising give. It is cool to the touch and breathes extremely well so does not heat up overnight. The stitching is well done and the spacing of the stitching prevents bunching up of the wool padding.I can't speak for all, but for my body type: lighter weight, sensitivity to pressure in certain sleep positions, and "runs hot" on body temperature, this topper does the trick and within two days I noticed that it had improved my sleep patterns in a very positive manner. Not just added comfort but improved sleep time, less wakening and a rested feeling in the mornings. Well worth the money and my "best buy" in mattress solutions!My advice... don't throw out the mattress... get this topper and improve your sleep comfort and restfulness.
