requires some skill to replace
The battery was an exact replacement for the original battery and worked well after installation. I took the recommendation of one other reviewer and ordered a pack of solder and seal connectors. This made the job very simple compared to having to cut strip and solder each individual wire while avoiding any short-circuits. Carefully cut the old battery out one wire at a time as close to the battery as is practical and do not let the wires touch each other. Once you pass that point the rest is easy. Strip the wires slip on the solder and seal connectors couple of minutes with a heat gun and you're good to go. Be careful routing the wires when reinstalling the battery, first time I put it in one of the wires was touching the passive diaphragm on the back of the speaker and cause the sound to distort. Had to pull the battery back out and route the wire away from that part of the speaker, second time was a charm.

Don’t unsolder from the board!!! Unless you want to
Pretty simple repair if you take your time, leave the wires soldered to the board and solder the wires together. There’s plenty of room for an extra inch of wire. Use small heat shrink. Works perfect again

Destroyed my Soundlink trying to install this
If you are trying to salvage your Bose Soundlink by buying this version of the battery that requires soldering in the new ribbon cable, save your money and don't bother. The battery connections are live, the circuit board grommets are tiny and nearly impossible to properly solder, and if you happen to contact anything else on this tiny circuit board, you are screwed.

Great battery improvement , difficult to solder
I replaced the battery in my Bose Soundlink mini II due to a flashing red light. While this was a challenge to get the old board off and the new one on, I was bummed when this did not fix my problem immediately. I got onto the btu.bose.com site, followed the installation instructions the used the "hack" of typing "adv" and pushing the up then down Arrows on the computer and was able to update the speaker. After a few minutes it started working again. Not sure if it was the battery or the update, but the new battery definitely lasts longer than the 10 year old one I removed.

Lasts forever, so much cheaper than replacing the speaker
Old battery didn’t charge and speaker was too good to toss. This gave it a new life. I just cut the wires and soldered the new battery into them in the same order. Used it for 6 hours first day after fully charging and it was still at 60%! So, yeah, its fantastic. Worth the purchase if you love your Bose. Dont toss it, FIX IT!
