My 14-year-old LG front-loading clothes washer started retaining water in the tub. My wife asked, "Should we buy a new one (figure $1000) or call a repairman (figure $400), or can you fix it?So I bought this pump for $25. I looked up how to replace the old one on YouTube. The video said it would take seven minutes to replace. It took me five hours, but I got it done. And, yes, the pump works as it should.

***Update. It failed after only 7 months of use. It just stopped pumping water. This pump is not worth your time. I have to pull it out, order another one from someone else, and install it. Not an easy task.----‐‐------------original review...The unit was not ready to install, but that is normal for this part. The issue I have is the noise from the pump. It is 2 or 3 times louder than the old one. I loosened it and readjusted it to see if that helped, maybe a little but it is still very loud. I am not sure how long it will last, as it sounds like the impeller is loose or the solenoid is bad.One of the plastic locating fins was bent in also which caused a leak. After removal it fell off and reseated ok with no seal issue.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Perfect fit. For my LG washer, Had an OE error code and would not drain this is the second time I had to replace water pump in this same washer I replaced myself & saved probably $100’s on labor

This is an almost universal design for washer pumps. The only thing that goes bad on them is the plastic impeller internal mounting pivot point. I'm pretty sure the design is meant to allow for a safety in case it gets bound up with hair or something, but that little brass quarter moon shaped thing inside the plastic wears away at the plastic a little more during every cycle. After 10 years, I had to replace our original. After 5 more years I had to replace the replacement and it was backordered and crazy expensive. I purchased this unit instead, which was rated for more wattage. All I used from this unit was the magnetic core spindle and impeller. It fits perfectly into the housing of the original pump and keeps the wattage demand to original spec. This unit cost 1/4th the cost of the original part.Yes, my washer is more than 15yrs old. We bought it used when we first moved in together and I've kept it going strong by maintaining and cleaning it myself the whole time. Replacing the spider at year 11 was the toughest job due to availability.
