Stay away unless you want to be confused by incorrectly labelled chords.
I'll be honest, I haven't made it too far into this book yet, but so far I'm not impressed. The 2nd chord introduced in this book is wrong. The author claims that a G chord can be played in DADGAD as 020200. This contains the notes D, B, and A. But a basic G major triad has the notes G, B, and D. I'm guessing maybe the intended chord shape here was actually 020020, but the incorrectly labelled chord shape is repeated several times in the first section of the book, so it must not be a typo. Maybe the rest of the book is great, but I don't have my hopes up after seeing such a blatantly obvious error right at the start of the book.

Superb books.
This book has been very helpful in approaching this particular tuning. It starts you out with the basics, which in this tuning covers a pretty wide field that gets you up and going and playing familiar songs in different styles and shows the versatility it encompasses. I do prefer the paper back compared to Kindle. I'm old. Like so many others have suggested, spiral bound would be icing on the frets. It seems with today's technology this could be done without excessive costs passed on to consumer. Also, making downloads available across all platforms would be very nice, especially for those who don't have pc connection. Over all, these are superb books.

New to The the Dadgat Style
The Title alone should be Far Out for most intermediate guitarist. I'm just stating to get into it...the first lesson was simple...and written not to impress with vocabulary but to clearly give the reader(student) the basics. I was looking for beginner type of lessons and I know I got it with this book. The references to songs that have Dadgat style in them is a great touch. The D scales leading is a great fit for me since I do a lot of my cord progressions around this cord. I intend to re-arrange the cord progression to the 1st song I ever wrote to Dadgad style...the songs main theme is Rain...and I can hear it already. Making this type of Guitar style lessons available will bring many guitarist beginners & intermediate to the phone with intentions to buy. Great job...and Thank you Amazon for making it available.

More for an experienced player.
I purchased this book on a recommendation from a YouTube channel that indicated it was helpful in learning DADGAD. Unfortunately, having a left hand injury doesn’t allow me to use full dexterity. This book did not help at all with alternative chord shapes unfortunately. I’m sure it would be good for someone else but not me.I also think that this is probably a more advanced book. I really just needed a basic chord with possible alternatives and finger picking patterns. If that is what you are looking for then this is not your source. Unfortunately it is hard when you can’t see the layout ahead of time.

The ULTIMATE in Guitar Instruction & Reference
The instructive presentation is masterfully done. As a reference it is excellent in design and ease of use. Well done, Simon Pratt! For anyone pursuing exploration of alternate tunings (and specifically DADGAD) Simon's series of method books are the ultimate.

Great DADGAD course for Intermediate to Experienced Players
Aside from a minor gaffe where the second chord was introduced as a G5 but was actually a D6 no 3, or a Bm7 no 5, (could be interpreted either way) this is an excellent guide to the DADGAD tuning. The author cuts to the chase right off and gives you the best voicings from the myriad of possibles and shows you how to use them in progressions. You are immediately inspired when you follow along with the examples and hear your guitar as it blooms with incredible sonority from the beautiful combinations of open and fretted strings. If you ever considered an alternative to standard tuning DADGAD would be a more than worthy contender.

Almost complete, (no chord chard)
I like this book because you can obtain audio tracks via their website, to hear what the lessons should sound like. It could be improved by including a chord chart at the end of the book.

Teaches Major7sus4 chords completely wrong.
It would be unfair of me to knock more than a couple of stars off as I have only skim read the book, but something I did find troubling (which doesn’t actually give me much confidence in the rest of the book) is that this guitar “expert” doesn’t seem to know what notes go into at least some of the chords he is teaching. A small section caught my eye called “Major7sus4 chord voicing” in which the author claims to show the notes in first a Gmaj7sus4 (the slightly abbreviated name) followed by a series of other maj7sus4 chords. Now without boring anyone reading this too much, the notes that SHOULD make up a Gmaj7sus4 are G, D, F# and C. The notes shown (and supported by the DADGAD tab) are G, B, C and E, and the rest of the chords shown in that particular section are similarly incorrect. This may seem like nitpicking, but it’s things like this that your entire knowledge of musical theory are based upon, and the author/publishers really should do better, especially since beginners may well be using this book.So do read this book carefully and double check any examples with a secondary and even tertiary source. If the rest of the book is fine I shall update my review accordingly, but likewise, anymore needless errors like that and I’ll be letting you know.Note: This is from the kindle edition.

Basics of DADGAD
The book briefly covers several DADGAD techniques and also points to some DADGAD famous songs as well as to famous songs played in standard tuningsthat can be played on a DADGAD guitar with movable chords. The main problem with the books is that it deserves only few pages and examples for each technique (some of which are repetitions of the previous examples, e.g., see twelve bars blues chaper). I'd would have been nice to also cover few traditional Celtic tunes, as they are the most common ones played on a DADGAD guitar. I wished the book included 4/5 traditional songs at the end of the book (e.g., 2 easy ones and 2-3 advanced ones). Yes, there are a couple of (I believe original?) DADGAD songs, but they are not very nice to listen/play in my subjective opinion nor representative of DADGAD.Minor points: I would have liked each example to point to an mp3 track number rather than "example 6k", "example 7zb" etc for easy of references (or both, e.g., by naming each file "1 - Example a.mp3" etc). The quality of the printed book (especially the cover) is rather poor (it looks like one printed by the office printer), but this is of course not fault of the authors (the book reports "Printed by Amazon").

A Fantastic Introduction Into the World of Altered Tuning
I am a relative beginner to guitar playing, but I was fascinated to explore guitar music beyond standard tuning. I recently bought a short-cut capo to experiment with different chord shapes and voicings. I have now discovered that the information contained in this title provides further information into what can be achieved with altered tuning and the melodies it can produce. A book worthwhile adding to your guitar music library.

Amazing DADGAD book.
I am a DADGAD beginner having played standard tuning for 60 years! Now into Irish music and realized that DADGAD is very useful for backing pub sessions. I'm amazed at how comprehensive Simon's book is; there are many hours of reading and practice ahead. The music theory and the practical tips are second to none. I am really looking forward to delving into the intricacies of this genre of playing. Many thanks.
