Don’t knock it till you try it. This thing works. With the fish shake instead of the basic stone, you can get under your fingernails too—that’s where the garlic really likes to stay. I’ve found it works even better if you squeeze a little lemon juice on your hands while you’re washing / rinsing with this.

As a household that has recently dove headfirst into cooking, it became rapidly apparent that some odors are as stubborn as can be. Having seen one of these magic bars in a magazine, we decided to check on Amazon. After reading about product after product, we decided on this one, mainly for the size. Most of the other bars seemed tiny and, well, I have fairly large hands. Thankfully, this bar is a great size. It has worked well in eliminating those cloying odors that just won't leave your hands, no matter how many times you wash them. Eve in its worst performance, all that was left was the faintest whiff of what used to be.

Plain in simple, i thought this thing would be a gimmick. I cook alot, almost daily so things like fish, onions and garlic kinda cling to me for awhile. I can say after using this it definitely reduced the odor. I cant say it completely eliminated the smell but it does reduce it for sure. On another note after a dinner of snow crab legs my hands smelled of the ocean so I grabbed for my stainless soap and scrubbed away. It didnt work as well as it did for ridding the oinion scent but I think it may have help slightly. I think it is worth the cost and would probably buy it again if I lost this one.

Got this as a gift for my boyfriend because there is no worse smell than the after scent of a hockey players glove sweat.He would scrub his hands for half an hour sometimes using all different kinds of soaps, even sugar scrubs, nothing worked. So I won't lie, I really didn't think this would work either. I'm SO glad we tried it out though. He washed his hands with this and warm water for about 30 seconds and I SWEAR you would not even know he had just spent hours on the ice!!! Side note; sometimes there is a faint "metal" scent left behind, depending on how long you scrub or how bad the smell was before. However, this is easily fixed by just washing your hands with your normal soap quickly after! *** Update - I got this back in 2012, and it's still working strong!!

Basically, stainless steel will remove a number of bad smells from your hands when you rub in your hands under water. The only question is what shape bar you will choose and how much you're going to pay for it. I like this product because it's large enough to rub all over your hands with little effort, and is inexpensive yet sturdy. There are currently faddish stainless steel products that try to dupe you into thinking their particular product is a breakthrough. Rubbish. This one is inexpensive and works fine. If you prefer soap-shaped stainless steel, get that one. There is also a tear-drop shaped one. If you like that shape best, get it. Just don't pay a lot of money for any single product. Stainless steel is stainless steel.

The reviews on this product are pretty good so I totally drank the kool-aid. I hate using garlic in recipes because my hands smell for days after. This product seemed like the perfect solution, but it didn’t work after a day of handling garlic. It’s also advertised as stainless steel but it feels like hollow plastic

It actually works! After several days of washing and scrubbing my hands, I could still smell the faint scent of garlic from the tomato soup I made earlier that week. As much as I enjoy eating garlic, smelling it on my hands days after touching cloves was not working for me. I came across this product on Amazon and decided to give it a try. I was a little skeptical but I've tried it with onions, garlic and seafood and all smells immediately disappeared after using the Magic Soap! The fish shape looks really cute sitting on my sink too :)
