Review: Big Nate Rocks! - Great series of books that I enjoy as much as my daughter! Silly plots and characters, but feels very authentic with its kid p.o.v. The illustrations are great and add a humorous dimension as well. There are coded messages that appear in the illustrations for extra fun. One doesn't have to stop reading to solve them, they're just kind of a bonus feature. A nice length for some sustained reading sessions with only mildly challenging vocabulary makes these great for reading practice. Lots of dialogue for young readers to practice inflection, etc., too. Good, clean fun, engaging story lines, and great practice for young readers. Review: Great series - My kids love Big Nate books. They used to barely read anything other than Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. After they finished the whole series it was difficult for me to get them enthusiastic about reading anything else, until I found the Big Nate series. My kids love these books just as much, a good age appropriate, funny series for them to dive into.

Books my son can read, and his mother is actually ok with them!
My 2nd grader loves to read, and he loves comedy, but it's hard to find some that aren't incredibly disrespectful to adults. I had previously purchased some of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid for him, but was appalled at how SO MANY of the stories depicted adults as shallow uncaring individuals who knew less than nothing. The kid knew it all and the adults were just mistaken. I know it's not meant to be taken seriously, and they're quite funny, but at such a young age, children can be very impressionable. It's different when they're older and can filter a little better. So, being for a young 2nd grader, I like this Big Nate series much better than the other books, simply because it's focused on interactions with other children versus so much with adults. The funny stuff is usually some happenstance that Nate gets himself into, rather than ugly humor directed at other people. I'm not saying it doesn't have ANY, but it's much more preferable than the alternatives. I'm a much happier mother to find these that he likes just as much!

My son is going to love these books!!
Perfect book set for my 7 year old son! He's going to love these books!! I also am unsure where to write a review about the Amazon delivery guy, but I have to say HE WAS THE BEST!! The office was closed at my apartment building so he took the extra effort to call me and walk my order over to me!! He was VERY sweet!! I hope he has a wonderful holiday!

Gift for Christmas
I purchased this as a gift for Christmas for a 7 year old boy who was a fan of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. This series also includes drawings inside almost like a comic, but not quite. As a librarian, I knew that this series was hugely popular and hard to keep on the shelves, so I figured I couldn't go wrong and I was right! The mother of the boy told me he loved all 3 books and has since purchased or checked out the other titles in the series.

This is a great book for boys who "don't like to read
This is a great book for boys who "don't like to read." My son enjoys reading Big Nat books. It has enough color pictures to keep him interested, and just enough words to keep me happy. I plan on purchasing more Big Nate after he finishes book 3. It was a great price for 3 books.

Loved by all
I bought two sets. One set for my boys, 7 and 8 years old, and another for the elementary school library where I work a couple of days a week. All the kids in school beg me for these books. I was quite the hero bringing these to school. I apparently didn’t bring enough, though! LOL My boys live Big Nate so much they read them more than a few times each. Perfect for boys and girls ages 6 to 96.

Great quality for great price!
My son ordered 2 sets to donate in memory of his teacher who passed away from cancer this year. She gave him a Big Nate book for Christmas. He was so excited to donate these to two libraries in her memory!

We read the whole Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and needed a new one. These are seeming to be just as entertaining! Still on the first book though!

I have been reading this book for 3 months now and can't put it down. I spend hours each day reading and only wish I could spend more time because I can't wait to find out the book ends.
