Outstanding sound, playability, value
In short: I love the sound and the playability and have had no issues with quality control. Minor gripes: I wish EVH designed it with a hand cut off and I wish Fender kept his reverse pup switch in place for this mass production version as well. But I can reverse the pup switch and live with the lack of hand cut off.Longer version: I bought my Wolfgang Special 6 months ago as a mid-aged noob to replace a Player Plus Tele made in the same Ensenada factory. Both were flawless off the box, which I understand is not always the case. I measured everything immediately after a dreadful experience with my very first guitar made overseas by another manufacturer. All measurements, frets, etc are perfect. The sound is exactly what it should be if you want an EVH guitar. Coupled with my 5150 Iconic, this Wolfgang Special sounds amazing and can do all sorts of music from heavy blues to metal. No idea about other styles but it was obviously designed by EVH for heavy music.I live entirely on the bridge pup for the time being. I wish the switch was as Eddie designed it so I may turn it around. There is a reason he reversed it versus Gibson: tapping is done on the bridge pup but having the bridge pup with the switch pointing down can make you switch pups inadvertently from bridge to neck. The US version keeps the Eddie idea but the mass produced ones keep the original Gibson idea apparently not to confuse people, whatever the merits of that.Speaking of minor gripes, the low-friction volume pot is a mixed blessing for a beginner. Having the knob on hand is absolutely necessary so as to clean up in a hurry for a pre-chorus or a bridge or an intro or whatever. But it is very easy to "use" inadvertently as well. I attribute this to my own inexperience. The neck is extremely comfortable and fast and the fretboard feels fantastic. I have played 30-40 guitars by now, including all the famous ones and the only one that I liked as much or better was a Jem Premium. The guitar is neither heavy, nor light. It sits right around 8lb in my case. EVH designed it like this: no cut outs. Fender added cutouts to the overseas version but not to the Mexican one. Minor gripe but I have hand issues so everything that helps there is a plus. The FR 1000 system is something I am not capable of commenting on for now. Changing strings is easy. The fine tuners could surely turn more smoothly but I have not had actual issues. Just a minor annoyance that they are not as smooth as they could be.It is an tremendous value at its price point. And if you want to be in the ballpark of Eddie's sound, this is a fantastic choice. Works for any heavy music to boot and, again, plays fantastic.

Great guitar
I really like the guitar, plays easily, D-Tuna actually works! Fast and smallish neck. Stays in tune no matter how deep you bomb the floyd rose. Very hot pickups, sound great through my Marshall with distortion but also sweet clean tones.Finish is perfect! Striking guitar. My only complaint is it was not setup properly at the factory; action way to high and the fret edges are sharp enough to cut you. Needs adjustment but that's fine. Also, I feel you should get a hard shell case if you're paying $1000 for a guitar!!Update, I returned the guitar due to the poor setup/fret problem and exchanged for another. Changing to 5 stars! Plays like butter!!! Love the neck size (good for smaller hands). Setup perfectly from the factory!
