You will never need a butter 🧈 knife again
This butter distributor is so handy. I am really enjoying using it. It cuts a slice of butter impeccably. You don't need a butter knife and will not make a mess with your butter. I ❤️ it!!!

The best butter keeper/slicer I've ever used!
I've used this butter keeper/slicer for more years than I can count. The lid on my original has finally broke but I can't complain, it's more than 30 yrs old. I've looked everywhere in brick and mortar stores for this type/style in vane. I'm completely blown away to find it on Amazon. THANK YOU! You have the right name.... I find the most amazing and innovative products on your site‼️. My new one is more stout and strong plus it comes with the two different measurements, Eastern and Western which is very important in baking to use the correct measurement. It's quick and easy to use plus you get the exact amount needed. Love it above all others‼️‼️‼️

I LOVE this product
This is easily the best thing ever for butter keeping!! I pull the cover off a stick of butter, pop it in here, and measure out in tablespoons or half tablespoons to cut when I need it, in the meantime it's just stored in this thing. I go through butter semi-quickly, not so fast that I wouldn't use it much and not so slow that the butter sits in it forever. Of course I keep it in the fridge, and I don't use it to spread on toast, I use it for cooking/sauteing, things like that. I just can't say enough good things about the ease of use and sheer ingenuity of this product. Here's the one con: I truly wish it were made better. TRULY. Please, creators, consider having it built a little better even if it means you charge more. My last one went for a little over a year before the spring just on the inside broke completely, or rather the plastic it was attached to. Whole thing ripped right out. I see from other reviews some didn't even last that long. I just ordered another, and I plan to baby it more than a horticulturist babies an orchid plant, because I want this to last. Seriously, I have bought a ton of little kitchen hack things over the years and this is by far my favorite of them all. If you're on the fence about trying it out, I hope I tipped the scale in favor of it. If you mostly go through a stick of butter a tablespoon or two at a time, you'll love this. Before, I stored my stick in a plastic container I'd bought just for sticks of butter, but I would store it in its paper cover and have to cut it with a knife and rinse of the paper in hot water to dry and throw out. (I don't throw anything with food on it in the trash) With this, I don't have to even get out a knife, the cutter is built into the device. Now I rinse, dry, and throw away the paper wrapper once when I first put it in. The plastic container holds another stick ready to go in when I use the current one. I love my system! But yeah, it's a tad flimsy.

Dispenses pats of butter in variable sizes
I was looking for a device that would allow me to dispense small pats of butter (to spread on toast) as well as larger amounts for cooking/frying. Most of the butter dispensers have a fixed wire grid that cuts the bar of butter into uniformly sized pats; or shaved off thin strips which were not really convenient for cooking. Also, many were fairly large, with plungers which extend out of the container (and only become easier to store when the butter bar has largely been used). This device is the same size as the bar of butter, keeps my hands clean, can dispense very thin slices of butter which are easy to spread, or dispense larger pats for frying. It’s also dishwasher-safe. I would suggest taking it out of the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes before using it to allow the butter to soften a bit; and I would have preferred a metal to a plastic device (but that’s rare these days). All-in-all, this has proved to be the most versatile and useful butter dispenser that I’ve encountered, and I recommend it highly.

Buttery goodness
It might seem like a superfluous gadget but it's actually great. If you need a think slice of butter, this works better than a knife. I purchased it because we buy our butter from the local dairy and there are no markings at all on the wraps so measuring was a guessing game. We've used it for well over a year with only few problems. The problems we have had are less about the gadget and more about the butter's interaction with it. For example, very cold butter is hard to slide forward. Room temperature butter doesn't slice finely because the fine cut rejoins to the stick. The only problem with the device itself, independent of its interact with the butter, is that it doesn't always like to latch on the first click. That said, 9 out of 10 times, it latches with one hand.No problems with the hinge or wire with near daily use.ETA: Removing a star. Our original (reviewed above) eventually wore out. Our second broke fairly quickly, in keeping with the critical reviews here. We decided not to buy a third, even though we could use it for the reasons mentioned previously.

One of my favorite kitchen tools
If you are an avid baker or like cooking with butter, this is a great tool. You can cut butter portions by tsp or tbsp. It's easy to use and cuts neat chunks. My only warning - it is a bit fragile when dropped.

Not what I expected
Another great idea that fails. If the butter is not a perfect temperature it is difficult to dispense and the fine cutter wire will stick at the bottom, requiring the stick be pressed back in to release the wire. If the butter becomes too soft it won't cut but rather ooze out. The dispenser doesn't close airtight so the butter will pick up odors from the refrigerator. It gets greasy and has to be washed after every stick. Just another great idea that fails the real world kitchen test.
