Q: How thick is the film, in mils

I do t know the exact mills. But it is adequate for for protection against rubbing cables on the head tube. and rubbing shoes on on your chainstay. Would not use for down tube to protect against rock strikes.

Q: is color 1 clear or white?

Once you apply these protectors they are 95-99% clear (see-through). The white color is from the backing that is peeled off before applying. The color of your bicycle will show through these protectors once applied, but upon close inspection it is easy to tell there is a protective decal applied.

Q: The stickers are supposed to go under the cable lines, not over. they protect the frame from rub from the cable lines. not over.?

Correct... I put them any where that might get rubbed or hit. Cable contact spots, chainstays, back of seat tube, front of down tube, top tube... etc. Add a little heat when you place them and they will conform and stay adhered better.

Q: To insure the sticker does not bubble or edges do not peel, how do you prepare the surface for the application of the stickers ?

Just clean the surface from any grease or dust, they stick pretty well and easy.
