We have bats on the side of our house in an overhang. We’ve counted as many as 28 flying out in the evening. I like that, but what I don’t like is the guano on the deck. So , I bought this hoping that they would move over to there new home, soon. When I unboxed the bat house I was impressed with how nice it looked. The spray they give you smells like grape candy, not an unpleasant smell. It’s been about a week and the bats haven’t made the transition to their new home yet. But, I’m hopeful by next spring they have because we are going to seal up the overhang this fall/winter after making sure there are no bats in it. The bat house is nice to look at even if it’s unoccupied.

The bat house is rugged, sturdy and attractive. It has tree bark on the front, so blends in perfectly when hung on a tree (which we did). My only criticism was that the roof shingles were not adhered to the roof. My husband glued them down with caulk and clamped them overnight. I’m not sure what would have happened if we didn’t do that, but I thought they might have blown off in high winds. Anyway, it was a small matter for us, but could be a bigger inconvenience for someone without the right tools and experience. I’m happy with the purchase and happy to find something so well made in the USA.

There boxes look great and are solidly built. I’m not sure why the shingles aren’t attached more securely, but that was an easy fix for me before I hung them. It was a nice touch to include the spray that will help attract bats.If I’ve hung it in the right location (and I think I did) then this will be successful. I’ve already noticed bats flying in that area in only 4 weeks.
