Delightful!
I had searched for ground Szechuan pepper at the local Asian market, but had a difficult time finding it since it was my first time there. A lot of recipes I make call for this, so I was relieved to find it on Amazon. Turns out my local Asian market actually has this exact item, but the bottle is labeled "Japanese pepper" so I didn't realize. Anyway, this is delightfully bright and spicy! I love it! I find myself putting it on everything from pizza to grilled veggies. Just be careful - it smells so citrusy that the heat can sneak up on you.

Very unique while still peppery
This is going to be difficult to describe, but the flavor is citrusy—very unique and still packs a kind of spicy kick that doesn’t burn, but sort of numbs the tongue with a sort of lemony glaze that lingers.I don’t eat fish, but I imagine since it’s citrusy, this would probably pair best with certain kinds of seafood including vegan fish fillets. You could probably try a little on avocado toast too.Regardless, if you’re a little adventurous and into trying new things, you need to have this unique spice in your rack. I’ve never had anything like it.

The Secret Ingredient Your Kitchen Needs!
As someone who loves experimenting with new spices and flavors in the kitchen, I was excited to try S&B Sansho Szechuan Peppers. And let me tell you, this little 0.42-ounce bottle of peppercorns packs a punch! One thing that sets S&B Sansho Szechuan Peppers apart from other peppercorns is its unique flavor profile. These peppercorns have a slightly lemony and slightly numbing taste that pairs perfectly with spicy dishes. I've used them in everything from stir-fries to soups and stews, and they always add a delicious layer of flavor.Another thing I appreciate about these peppercorns is their versatility. They work great as a seasoning for meats like chicken, beef, and pork, as well as vegetables like eggplant and green beans. I've even used them to make a homemade Szechuan pepper oil that's perfect for dipping dumplings or drizzling over noodles. One thing to note is that these peppercorns are quite potent, so a little goes a long way. I recommend starting with a small amount and adjusting to taste.Overall, I would highly recommend S&B Sansho Szechuan Peppers to anyone looking to add some spice and excitement to their cooking. The flavor is unique, the possibilities for using them in your kitchen are endless, and they're sure to become a staple in your spice collection. So go ahead and spice up your life with S&B Sansho Szechuan Peppers!

A must for unagi!
If you're having unagi kabayaki, the sansho pepper is a must! It's actually not peppery, but has a curious and appealing citrusy flavor that balances perfectly the fatty nature of unagi. I was glad to find this on Amazon!

Good source
This was a great find, I live way out in the boonies so finding exotic spices is tough..... until I remembered the internet!! The pepper was aromatic and flavorful, mint and citrus notes.

Good but expires in six weeks
The one I got expires six weeks from delivery date, which is a shame. Since it is a spice I will use it a while longer than that. I know this happens more often with imports, especially flavors and ingredients that aren't well-known stateside. Kinda disappointing, but it is what it is.

An essential ingredient in shichimi togarashi
This is the lemon pepper that is an essential ingredient in Shichimi Togarashi, or Seven Taste Pepper (shi=seven chi=taste togarashi=pepper). The other tastes are white and black roasted sesame, garlic, ginger, nori, and the togarashi pepper. Shicimi Togarashi is pretty great stuff, also available from OxCom, and I was curious as to what Japanese Lemon Pepper added to a mixture that already included Togarashi pepper, and what it might be like on its own. BTW, when I first tried Shichimi Togarashi and Sansho Szechuan Peppers (lemon pepper), it was a two to three week ship from Japan. OxKom now apparently has a slot in amazon's state side warehouse system, as shipments of their products are now Prime one or two day delivery. Enjoy!
