Start Shaving!
If you want to shave ice in the simplest form, this is it!! This Ice Shaver looks like a wood plane for ice. It has an adjustable blade. And watch out, it's very sharp. For the ice block, I reused, refilled and froze an 1/2 gallon orange juice carton. Peel off the carton package to reveal a big hunk of ice. Milk cartons work too! I put a towel down on the counter, laid the ice block on it. And got to shaving! It worked great but keeping the ice block stable was a bit of a challenge. Since that first attempt, I've built a 'shaving stand.' It holds the ice block steady so the ice block does not move. All you need to do is make a simple syrup with fresh fruit and pour over your shaved ice. It's a cool and inexpensive summer treat. Start shaving!!

Rusts after one use
Don’t buy this product . It came oily like it was used & it rusted after attempting to use it one time. Horrible product.

Amazing Quality, Easy to use
We’ve been wanting this for a very long time. I’m so excited to have this ice shaving tool! The quality and design are on par for Victoria! As with anything we’ll made, taking care of it will ensure long life. Make sure it’s dry and stored with the blade put away & it will out last us all!TIPS/IDEAS:- I recommend freezing your ice in something longer. The longer the better! I plan on trying a few items like my deeper cookie sheet (I’ll set it in the freezer, then add the water so it doesn’t spill).- Once you have the blade set and start running the ice, it’s easy to run nice long strokes collecting more ice with each stroke than if you’re running a short width. Short runs create bumps in the ice making it hard to navigate the slick surface.- As others have mentioned, the item will get cold! So, having inexpensive knit gloves on is a good idea.- Place the serving dishes in the freezer before shaving the ice (30+minutes).- Place an ice bag or bowl of ice under or around your serving dishes. It takes a few minutes to shave all of the ice. This keeps everything chilled while you’re working.- We store ours in a plastic pencil box, it’s just the right size! We also always leave it out to dry (on a very dry towel or dry dying rack) overnight before before storing it.

A bit dissappointed!!!
Item looked and smelled like it was used, and dropped, even the Amazon envelope was riped and taped. The packaging looked like it was tapedback to the cardboard, and it smelled so strong of lubricating oil, it was so strong, I had to put it in my garage. scratches and scoff marks on both, the shaver and blade. Product definitely looks repacked, a but dissappointed.

Just what I wanted
It truly is proper cast iron. Heavy. Came with a light coat of oil. Washed of easily. Blade is thin and relatively soft metal. It required honing. Was shaving ice within 15 min of getting it out of the mailbox. It really works well. I'll probably make a better blade. Oh, and remember, blade is installed bevel down.
