Is anyone using this beater on a mesh head? How's the noise level and durability vs a plastic beater?

I use 2 on the Kat Kt4 head which is mylar, similar to mesh. They are GREAT. VERY QUIET and weighted to simulate felt type beaters. Haven't tried them on real drums yet. But I will.

what beater should I use with my remo silent strike bass heads

I think you’ll be fine with a standard bass drum beater with those heads as there designed for silent practice anyway but if you won’t audition soft playing I suppose one of these beaters would be fine!

How does it sound on a real drum?

love it - round bouncy sound - softer than felt or wood, but lot more punch than a soft beater (wooly)
