It’s just like described. Saves the front end keel from scrapes.
No dislikes. The fit is a little weird, but once to buckle it down tight with tape and the sealant cures…it ain’t coming off. Recommend marine type of sealants in a tube.

Expensive but worth it
You’re paying for a small study piece of plastic, but it’s easy to install and looks clean. It takes abuse well and that’s what you’re paying for. Obviously you’ve made an investment on your kayak and it is only reasonable to protect it as well as possible. This protects one one portion of the kayak that is always touching the group when loading and unloading. It will also surely protect against and sudden objects in the water.

A must have for saving your investment from oysters/rocks etc.

Sturdy but not form fitting and is expensive
I have no doubt that this will last the lifetime of my kayak. However, it is not form fitting and leaves gaps that will allow for sand and grit to get between the bumper and the kayak. I have filled the gaps in with adhesive/caulk but it does not look the best. The price? Wow, for just a piece of plastic? I bit the bullet and bought it anyway but every time I look at it all that comes to mind is SUCKER.

Hobie passport 10.5 perfect fit
Love this product it's well made super strong easy to install. Fits the hobie kayak passport 10.5 really good. The company suggests use marine goop. It really is super strong and went on well. If you install this I would probably use blue painter's tape around the edges so that the overspill of marine glue goes on the tape and easy to remove.

Good protection but had to adjust fit
For Hobie Lynx it naturally wanted to fit way too high and would not protect bow when beaching or when setting bow down with scupper wheels installed. Easy to adjust by heating though. Used heat gun, but hair dryer probably would have been enough. I installed mine so it was 4.5 inches below hull/deck seam. So far protecting well - most contact has been near tail end, so probably could have placed it even lower (5 inches or more).

Overpriced piece of Kydex plastic
First the fit is very loose ( picture taken before trying to reform the guard on Hobie PA12). There is no way there is that much variance in Hobie PA12 hulls/molds but that is BerleyPro's excuse. It would be easier to work it if it was to tight a fit in my opinion. Took me an hour with a high end heat gun to try and improve the fit. Tape can not close the gaps alone. Instructions are extremely over simplified and no suggestion for type of adhesive to use. The general statement "use a marine adhesive" is extremely vague as some of these adhesives are not compatible with ABS or Polyethylene. This looked like an easy quick installation, it is not. With out making a jig to provide the appropriate amount of clamping force you will end up with large gaps between the hull and the guard. $54 plus tax is a complete rip off. Obviously very unsatisfied. Probably could have done better myself with an oven and and a piece of Kydex but I thought I would save some time. I didnt. I hate leaving a negative review but wanted others to know the truth and save them some money and frustration.
