Yes you can use it in a tray. I add a teaspoon of paint easy at a time until I get the brush to glide over the surface. Horizontal surfaces are wonderful because your paint can be thinned without worrying about drips or sags. About three coats of really thin paint will be brush stroke free. Vertical surfaces have to be worked quickly to achieve a smoothe appearance. Start at the top and keep it wet on wet without interruption. Gives an almost brush free look. Nothing beats oil base paint but this additive is the best I have found to work with latex! Lost of success on your project!
