I have a aarke filter jug and their pro carbonator. If you have the jug then the filter material is essential. I'm not a fan of drinking the tap water, though in Ireland tap water is generally fine to drink. I liked the idea of no plastics. I've used various main brand filter over the years and always ended up in the bin for one reason or another. The aarke filter jug is well designed and stylish, I've used it now for about 2 months. Water tastes great. It's easy to use just fill stainless steel hopper rince a couple of times in water and good to good. None of the filter material has come through into the drinking water. Someone asked what the material is, honestly don't know, doesn't say on the box. My only issue unfortunately is I ordered from Amazon UK and I noticed it came from Barcelona. We have been using these for a couple of years now and like the fact that they can be added to the compost when finished. Although they're not much cheaper than other filters there's no plastic. Using these in the Aarke jug gives really good water that we mainly pour into the kettle and coffee machine so that we don't get a build up of limescale. For this job they are excellent. Taste is a matter of opinion and I have yet to find any filtered water that doesn't taste different.
