It took a moment to adjust to the flavor, initially. It's not bad, it's just not store-bought toothpaste. Once I did, I was exceptionally pleased with the results. The flavor grows on you! I've never had my teeth feel as clean after brushing - it's a similar feeling as post-cleaning at the dentist. Fresh and minty breath (I use the Anise seed flavor). Most importantly, this product has improved my tooth/gum pain to a nearly unbelievable degree! I was getting sores and my gums bled when brushing, prior to using this product. Uncle Harry's Natural Toothpaste allowed my mouth to heal. I no longer get sores, my gums no longer bleed during brushing and I no longer struggle with tooth pain and hot/cold sensitivity. I wouldn't believe it, if I hadn't experienced it myself! Incredible product. I've tried other natural toothpastes to compare and nothing is quite the same. I've also had to switch back to regular toothpaste and instantly, the same old issues returned. Needless to say, I now have extras on hand to take with me when traveling, etc.

I've been using this brand of toothpaste for about three or four months now and I think it's amazing. Within the first month my teeth were less sensitive some of the chips in my teeth were less noticeable it's all natural and I've used some of the other flavors but I think the anise is my favorite love that almost like black licorice flavor. My mouth is a lot more healthier the last time I went to the dentist she asked me what have you been doing different I almost don't even have to do anything and I just told her just using a new toothpaste and she said well keep it up which made me feel really good. As long as this company is in business I will continue using this toothpaste. And I like the fact most of all that it's fluoride free a lot of toothpaste that are fluoride free also have other harmful chemicals in it but this one doesn't and for that I'm appreciative.

Natural licorice has a chemical that's very close to the artificial sweetener saccharin. I'm a bit sensitive to that flavor and unfortunately it seems to come through fairly strongly in this toothpaste. Coupled with the salty flavor common to a lot of natural toothpastes this gives it kind of a Swedish licorice flavor. It's not bad and some may really like it but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Honestly, what I was looking for was something to replace the old Trader Joe's natural toothpaste. This is one isn't exactly it but it's not bad at all.The tooth paste seems to work well. I have found I need to be careful not to get too much on the brush, if I do it tends to make a mess of the sink. It just seems more prone to splattering than any tooth paste I've used. Overall though it does clean really well. I actually found I like the jar style and the grit of the toothpaste was close to our old Trader's. I probably won't get this flavor again but I'll definitely try other versions.

I look forward to using this toothpaste daily. It avoids being sweet, does leave my teeth shinier.

If you like the idea of brushing your teeth with Ben Gay paste, then this is for YOU.Unfortunately, this was taking a risk and it turned out badly.I like to try many different kinds of tooth care products; different flavors, different ingredients, and different textures. And I had high hopes for Uncle Harry's Anise flavor. EPIC FAIL. The wintergreen oil is overpowering and there's only a hint of licorice/anise in this paste. Plus---the paste is a revolting texture--bentonite clay--so you have to floss out the residual mud from between your teeth, after brushing. Inconvenient and disgusting, strong flavors. Also, the container is glass, and it was cracked during shipping. After one use, it was in the trash and I got a refund.Instead of this awful stuff, I recommend Frau Fowler's Tooth Powders, especially the Orange Clove.

I gave this a try and like it so much that I keep ordering more. Maybe because it's different from regular toothpastes in terms of scooping this out rather than squeezing the last bit out of tube, maybe the flavors which are pleasing or that it imparts a healthy pH to my mouth (my dental hygienist approves), but all these factors together and I keep ordering more.

This is much less intense than all the other flavors (children's included). So glad I gave this one a try! I ordered it just based on other reviewers saying it was more mild, and I had no idea what "anise" flavor was. It's not great. It kind of has a black licorice taste (in addition to spearmint and cinnamon). BUT it doesn't burn your tongue out of your mouth like the other flavors so I much prefer it!Oh and of course the remineralizing properties are awesome! I've been filling in holes in my teeth and they aren't breaking apart anymore! I also love how slick and clean my teeth feel after I brush them.I love that it comes in a glass jar with a foil seal under the lid. I do wish they wouldn't put the ugly barcode sticker right on the top of the jar though. It's impossible to get off and is just kind of ugly on my counter. oh well!
