Q: Does this surform shaver come with a blade included or is it just the handle?

It has what looks like a cheese grater metal plate. No straight blade like a plane. It literally shaves wood off, as you would grate a piece of cheese.

Q: Is this good for easily shaving down,to smooth, the inner edge of a wooden door ( part by door knob )

It's not smooth when you have shaved it you would have to sand it down. Excellent little tool though

Q: Could this be used to carve out a channel in a plastered wall to inset mesh tape or do you recommend something else. Thanks for any info

I suppose, in theory, it could. It is curved along its length, so could be used to produce a shallow, parallel sided groove when moved back and forth along its length. All the blades that I've found for these don't have cutting teeth on the edge as some longer Surform blades do, so I think you would only be able to cut a very shallow groove. It would be difficult to keep to a straight line with this, and it might be better to try a more conventional Surform plane if the groove is long enough.

Q: Can you take a few mm off a door with this?

Yes. Just keep planing and it leaves a lovely planed surface too. It will take a bit of time if there is a lat to remove. I filled a hoover bag with the shavings doing my door. It's a good bit of kit
