Yes, you will need a compressor. 150ltr, 3Hp would be ideal, for example Sealey SAC1103B.

Q: Is this suitable for using with a cornice sealant paint like dulux sealer for plaster?

I would rather use an airless sprayer. hvlp and lvlp guns are for small spraying applications. I have a gravity fed turbine sprayer, it's flow is way too small for plaster. Once did try it for painted cornices it was more fatigue with the machine then with the brush. For cupboards and woodwork it's OK, but for wall, plaster I would not recommend it at all.
