Can you use this on top of the original mattress? We're finding the original one too hard.

I’ve taken out the original, kept the board for the base and used this mattress, it’s much better

No, but if you have a mattress that came with the original next to me crib, i washed the cover and it fits this replacement mattress.

Is the lining waterproof?

No, we bought a separate mattress protector.
