Q: does the gel plate have a smell to it? just wondering if it has a chemical smell to it, or no scent? Many thanks

Gelli plates don't have an odor. Gel Press plates have a sweet, not chemical smell. It is noticeable but I don't mind it. Having used both brands and not found any difference, I would buy Gel Press as it is much cheaper.

I’m unable to see any reference to ‘theme festive’ on this gel plates description, as far as I am aware that would not be relevant to a gel plate. Any theme you want to apply to a design you make on your plate would be applicable to you.

Q: Do you need to use a special gel press brayer with this plate, or can you use any brayer?

You can use any brayer. (rubber roller) Even a rolling pin if you don't have a brayer.

Q: Can I using printmaking inks (Caligo Safewash) on this when doing image transfer?

I don’t know that particular ink, but I have used many other inks on it, including alcohol inks and it works perfectly.
