India For Kids: Amazing Facts About India

A helpful book for anyone wanting to know about India
This book about India is put together so well. I love the color photos that accompany the text, which is set up as a series of questions. Everything from the typical geography and history questions like where is India? how'd it get it's name? how big is it? which is it's biggest mountain? to why was India under British Rule? and when did it get independence? And then there are questions about food. Why is Indian food spicy? and what is an onion bhaji? I love Indian food and want to travel to India at some point. When there I will most certainly eat some bhaji, a crisp deep-fried snack made with a vegetable. The author, Shalu Sharma even has a recipe for it in this book. She thinks of everything. You can have bhaji with chutney or pickles or spicy Indian curry.Do you know the national animal of India. If you guessed Tiger, you'd be correct. You know what the state animal of Texas where I live is? An armadillo. I'm so disappointed! But not in this book. It's a great book to find out about all sorts of facts about that wonderful country.

Very disappointed with the black and white pictures
Very disappointed with the black and white pictures. Wish it was clearly mentioned in the description that it's Black and White. It wasn't worth the money.I ordered 12 copies for kids as gifts.Too late to return. It would have been very nice with color pictures.

OK Book
This book has all the important things about India in it. My daughter found many facts she could use for her India research paper in 3rd grade. She was able to highlight on the pages. The only negative and reason I didn't give it five stars is there are no colored pictures. I would be willing to pay a few more dollars to have color. Plus, she would have enjoyed it more.

The book is organized into several short chapters with a font size comfortable for kids. Not for young kids
"India for kids" is part of the Amazing Facts series written by different authors that follow the same formula: stock photos one on each page and short description with Wikipedia style writing. This book about India was originally published in 2013, it is 64 pages long. The description are longer and more in depth that a number of other books in Amazing fact series, but they are not aimed at small kids as the text is written in Wikipedia style writing, which is a bit too advanced for young kids. The photos are a mix of black and white photos and color photos. The fact that it has a lot of black and white photo also makes not suitable to small children.Ali Julia review

many inaccuracies
The images in the book should immediately be rectified , in page 40 image of Rama looks like some Mughal king rather than Rama, its a grave mistake!! In page 57 the National Emblem is not properly shown , I mean the picture angle should have shown 3 lion faces visible with "Satya meva Jayathe" written on the bottom.

Great quick reference book for school projects
I purchased this book for my son to prepare to represent India for cultural night at school. This book is in a question answer form with over 50 questions in areas of geography, history, food and pop cultural answered. Author uses pictures where applicable ( pics are black and white). Here are some sample questions from the book. How old is Indian civilization? What is Bollywood? What are the festivals of India?I highly recommend this book to parents who wants to teach their kids about India. It is a concise guide for someone who wants a quick guide about the culture before a trip to India.

Perfect for School or Personal Learning
A great introduction to India and it's history - this book will be a great read for kids of 10+ years in my judgement. Some reviews criticise a lack of colour, which at the time of writing this review the author has fixed. The book is now more visually appealing and covers all of the interesting points about India a kid would want to learn about - be it for school purposes or personal learning.Highly recommended - 5 Stars!

Ok
Could have been better if pictures were coloured in stead of black and white. Pricey for what it is.

Look elsewhere.
Very disappointing. Dry, black and white, badly written with little explanation of key terms for kids. There is little here to grab children's attention. It looks like a home-made book. Don't buy.
