Easy to fit onto existing backplate. 5 minute job, if unsure how, check it out on youtube.

Needed to replace my gas box as the other got broken during renovation works. Fits perfectly. Took 5 mins to just slot on top of the existing back plate as it was only the front that got damaged. Hope this one lasts like the other one, as it was a 1969 original from the house being built

Got to replace degraded cover for my mother's gas meter.Made from same type of composite plastic as other box covers of this type, (not the strongest but no different). Needed to cut to widen inlet pipe hole at bottom, and drill new holes to fix to original back plate, but this was very straightforward and easy (hacksaw, and drill). Overall, a good replacement - bit more expensive than ordering ones on other independent online sites, but didn't have to wait 4-5 days delivery - arrived next day. (Note plastic hinges, but these are screwed on and not riveted on like older box covers, making them easy to replace - which is likely.)

Easy to fit and looks so much better now

Purchased this mk1 gas meter cover to replace an old broken one. It was easy to install and fitted perfect over existing backing which was already installed.

Having seen the average reviews on Amazon (which I agree with) I looked around for alternatives. It appears that this manufacturer supplies the Mark 1 boxes to all major outlets, so there does not appear to be any real choice apart from minor price differences.The hinges do not look very strong but I don't anticipate they will get much wear and tear as I have a smart meter. I had to enlarge the pre-drilled holes and do a little cutting to get it to fit. The fibre glass is relatively easy to cut.Despite the warnings about minor scuffing, mine was in perfect condition and looks much better than the old one.

The old box can be slid off the plate holding it to the wall, and the new one just slides in. A 5 minute job and a new meter box improves the look of the house. Worth the money.

Direct replacement for crusty old cover. Bit tight to get on round the gas inlet had to widen a bit and also enlarge the cutout for the output side to the house also.The only negatives are. The hinge mod that that has been done. Probably wont last long. But as the holes are already drilled I'll get some more sturdy nylon hinges.The door latch is very loose. Just a little vibration in windy conditions will cause it to shake it's self round and then the door flaps open. Wrapped in tape for now to wedge in closed position. Will need to do something better when I swap the hingesBut that said looks much neater and cleaner than old one.
