Q: What is the size of the U-shape opening in the middle? aka what is the maximum thickness my window can be?

You have to take into account that due to the tilt the 3" gap will be reduced, and you will have to shift the unit towards the front or back until the window open or closes without obstructions, if you have blinds is even worse. Your window seal must make contact with the U bottom and be able to seal against rain and wind which is a pita.

Q: It's June everyone, has anyone received it or find anywhere else to buy it? It is getting hotter and hotter.

Hello and thanks for your question in regards to the Midea U-Shaped air conditioner. The warranty for pre-ordered units will start on the first day of shipment as opposed to the purchase date.

Q: Where is the water supposed to drain out of? I see no holes in the bottom/back of the unit and I don't see water coming out. It is tilted properly.

It's supposed to evaporate water but it really doesn't do it, instead it overfills the pan under and then water drips out of screw holes all over. There is no single drain hole. If you live in humid climate look for another AC as a lot of water accumulates and just drains all over the building wall under the window.
