To clarify, Conair confirmed that they don't make the shiny silver solid chrome models anymore. If you're upset about this like I am, give them a call to let them know that you want the old chrome models back again - 1-800-326-6247 .

Q: does this one have the aluminum like metal, or the more solid shiny slick metal. There is a difference and I cant find the latter!!??

I have to disagree on the Hot Tools 24k Gold curling iron. Unfortunately your hair won't slide out of it like the Conair chrome barrel did, it's ok but not as nice. The barrel feels like a cheap metal, don't think you're getting a 24k gold barrel for $30, you're not. There are also a lot of complaints that it burns people's hair and stops working after a short period of time. I also contacted Conair and clarified that they no longer manufacture the chrome barrel curling irons at all. If you miss them, like I do, please call them like I did and request that they resume making them again - 1-800-326-6247. I've yet to find a suitable alternative, at least for the 1 1/2" barrel. More dumbing down of everyday products.

My hair is 3-4" in length and this iron works great. It does not come with a glove.

Q: I need a tangle proof swivel cord as I curl my hair in one direction. Is this what I'm looking for?!

This cord gets twisted and tangled. It does swivel, but that didn't stop it. Once it's twisted it's twisted for good too.
